I think they are using 2D digital projector and digital sound system. Or was it using digital source instead of old school projector reel? Either one or both.
The image is supposed to be clearer and the sound much better. Or so I was told by my friend. Just what I heard. |

suppose to be clearer because it's shot in 2D...

2D is much clearer-you wont see those dots and tearing and god knows what else 35mm tends to have on screen.
sound is not only clearer, but rarely will you hear drops in audio for no reason-common with 35mm...or atleast i usually suffer that, anyway |

well, yea, 2D is like watching in HD whereas normal sometimes you can feel that the screen is "blurish"
it's just an extra dollar though, so...it's your choice...and of course, timing too is a factor |

i can tell u for sure that 2D means digital (HD) version. the picture's definitely sharper and clearer with better contrast and vibrant colours. back in the UK, it will state "digital" rather than 2D like in msia. kinda confusing when we all know 2D means anything that's not 3D .
to see the real difference between standard projector and a digital one, just look at the edges of the screen. digital projections produce sharp and accurate edges with 90degree angle at the corners. standard projectors have blurry edges, sometimes not even straight, and have rounded corners. |

I haven't seen a digital 2D movie yet, but I've heard good things and apparently you definitely CAN tell the difference.
Funny how there's a bunch of people here who don't even know what it means or have used it, but are advising people against it. Seriously, if you guys can't tell the difference between HD and non-HD, there's something wrong with you. I can notice the vast quality difference on my tv, what makes you think you won't notice it on a much larger (cinema) screen? EDIT : I believe the price diff is RM1-2 bucks, so its worth it if you can find a cinema that has digital 2D. I've only heard Mid Valley having it so far. MBO Kepong also got, I'm sure most cinemas will have it. And the price diff is more like RM2-3, which is still cheaper than 3D. |

so i guess 2D uses digital projection technology, possibly 2k or 4k ... while normal is using analog 35mm prints to project...
haven't teste 2d yet but i hope it won't feel too 'clean' ... there's some magic from 35mm celluloid prints sometime with all the grain and scratches |
