guys wanna ask...im my temp normal...
at stock speed idle at 33c load at 48c-50c
if oc 5ghz @ 1.45v..idle at 45c load at 60c-65c...
is this temp normal for i7 2600k??
or my heat sensor is spoil??
im using Msi P67a-gd55...

1.45V is too much already. Try asking at Overclocker's United on the Sandy Bridge thread.

i think my phenom ii runs cooler...lol

your phenom II is not running 5.0 either

u can try decrease ur vcore to as low as u can, just make sure u pass the prime95 test, but most of the overclocker use LinX for 20 runs to test the system

i dont think phenom2 or other amd core can reach 5.0 or even 4.5Ghz with 1.45 vcore...

it is u, and ur system.. u drop a notch, if survive linX then u can drop more..

if not, then that is the best volt for u.

different batch got different vcore to get stable, just set as low as u can~nobody noe the best vcore for ur batch, u can try google it with ur batch number to see other's vcore as well

Don't need to compare AMD or Intel here. AMD have very high VCore to begin with. They surely need higher VCore to have better OCing. But this doesn't mean they've very high temperature and can't be OC much.

And, yes VCore of 1.45V in the BIOS is too much.
I suggest you to do more researches before you spoiled your system.

Do you get more 6870 CFX performance by OCing? If the boost is little then you don't need to overclock.

Not to say that you don't need oc. You can oc later when you actually need extra performance.

owikh84 told me most 2600K is stable at 1.50-1.52 for 5.0GHz.

Seems normal and acceptable.

80C+ is high. Not recommended for long term use. I suggest you OC to 4Ghz to 4.5Ghz with lower voltage first.

your temp is normal for 1.52V but not recommended for 24/7 daily use.

Don't need to worry too much for the temperature actually.
Even if you're hitting 90C, it's nothing also.
It won't spoil like that.

Seriously why even consider OCing a Core i7 2600K now?
Not like you're going to have any low performance issues now with the Core i7 2600K anyways..
You're just wasting electricity IMHO..

For daily usage mode (stability and longivity), most people recommend running prime95 for 2 hrs (or 4 pass of Linx) without error, maintain temperature of between 65c-70c, using Vcore of less than 1.35v-1.4v.

Don't confused with high Ghz achieved with high temperature and Vcore during OC as suitable setting for daily usage. These are for benchmarking and show off to friends.

I OC my PC 24/7, I don't see it's only for show off.
It's more like what stuffs you're doing. Gaming for now, you don't need it at all.
Maybe in the future, you might need to OC...

adraincs in Folding@Malaysia thread can achieve 4GHz, undervolted to 1.15V (stock 1.2v).

Since you have already achieve 5GHz (was it a stable 5GHz with 2hr prime95? If so definately a big achievement), now why not challenge yrself:

1) to see how much you can undervolt to achieve 4Ghz stable for 2hr prime95 (underclocking = "green" ).
2) how high GHz you can achieve with stock 1.2v

adraincs also mentioned that as long as you stick to 1.2v, it consumes the same watt regardless of how high GHz you run at. Don't disable stepping/turbo and those power saving parameters, so that when it is idle, it still goes down to 1.6GHz and around 1v (+- depand on the particular chip).

Buy a "kill-a-watt" meter to measure electricity usage in different configurations for best performance/watt would be very cool now a day.

first of all, welcome to overclock world..
overclock is a passion..i know that..
you want you proc to run at 5.0 Ghz just like other overclocker..
but you must know, overclock not simply put speed on your proc but you must care about stability, temperature and longetivity also..

in your case, 1.45v is too much already..
is ok if you get max temp at 1.45 below 75'c..
my advice is..you lower down your vcore, find a speed which your cooler capable on to cool the proc..
do this if you are truly overcloker..

Intel claims their Processor will only spoil after 10 Years of 100% usages.
Having 75-85C(when being stressed) for High-End Processor of Intel is normal and nothing to be afraid of.

But, having idling temperature like 55C+ is something bad. I don't like this.
Yet, it won't kill the Processor again. Processor is just too durable.
