How to share a file for others in the network in windows Vista? Ok, I used the classic sharing, then at File and Printer Sharing, I selected "Anyone who is on the same network in the same computer". I checked the permission level, it already set to Everyone.

No one seems able to open my shared file, include other Windows XP and Vista machine. There is no product key conflict with another Vista Machine, cause I already requested another new key from Microsoft Connect, both machine use different product key.

It there anyting I missed? If not, I think I'll report it as bug. Thanks

That is expected. Last news they said they will launch it Jun this year. After I'm got the invitation, and install it. My first opinion is, they won't be able to make it this Jun, there is still a lot of bug. Futhermore, after debug they will still need to optimise the code. So, I'm not surprise to see the delay.

If you able to reproduce it again and again, just write it in your bug report, why want us to help you test again?

BTW, when a program hang or not responding, a menu will poped up and give you option to wait the program to respond or restart the program. But sometimes that menu itself also not responding....lol....

^^ He's not fast. Your just slow wink.gif. If you read the newsgroups, you would have seen that Wendy (Über manager for the Longhorn/IE 7 Beta) said that they weren't sending the email out until Monday; it was out about 2 days prior to the email being sent -- for diligent people, lol.

LOL....haha...I'm slow. I haven't open newsgroup for a couple of days, nearly 1 week. Haiz... there are problems with streamyx in my area, the speed only running at 2x.xx Kbytes. I'm having problem to download it now.

Dear ZiYi,

We would like to take a moment to thank you for your contribution to Microsoft Windows Vista. Quite simply, it would not be the product it is today without your time, dedication and thoughtful feedback. You should be proud to have helped us develop the highest quality, most secure and most reliable Windows to date. To say "thank you" we would like to provide you with a complimentary copy of Windows Vista for your use.

Please visit xxxxxxxxx to accept your copy.

If for some reason you are unable to accept this gift you may decline by clicking "Decline Invitation" on the "My Participation" page on Connect.

Details:

We would like to offer you a copy of the software and a product key for Windows Vista Business Edition or, if you are eligible Ultimate Edition. You are eligible to choose Ultimate Edition if the machine on which you intend to install Windows Vista already has a DVD drive and is currently licensed for DVD playback, i.e., you have already licensed one or more pieces of software for playing back DVDs

· This is a full retail copy intended for your personal use and not for resale.

· It is being offered as a download only. No media will be mailed.

· Only currently active, invited members of the Windows Vista technical beta program who filed at least one bug are receiving this offer.

· Please visit xxxxxxxxx to accept this offer and indicate your preference for Business or Ultimate editions.

· After accepting the offer terms you will be immediately be given access to download the software.

· You may install and use the edition you chose for 30 days without a product key. Simply click 'next' at the product key prompt during setup, continue on and choose the appropriate edition from the list. You will be able to enter your product key at the activation prompt at a later time.

· We will email you when your product key is available for retrieval on Connect. In general this should happen within one week of your acceptance of the terms.

Again, we thank you for all your contributions during the beta!!

Thank you,
The Windows Beta Team

Haha, you suspected him using the "change file" method to activate his Vista.

BTW, that method will only last you until jun 2007, isn't it? Forgot the exact date.
Let's see what happen...then...

My friend keep urging me to share my awarded BT product key, hehe.... not dare to try it, I still don't know how far the V2.0 of activation engine can perform. I don't think calling Microsoft and give them tonnes of reason that I have change a new machine is a good idea....

I did agree the T&C after all, I have responsible for that, isn't it? haha...

My poor GF4 420Go...not Aero for me....

Clearly remember that.

leaking any sensitive information from Connects will cause a BT to be terminated from current beta programme and will affect future beta opportunities as well. HAHA...

I remember in XP, it can only delete and create a new partition, but not resize the partition, isn't it?

No, It cannot be used in RTM version of Vista. Any modification to enable the key to be used in RTM is ILLEGAL.

and YUP, the pre-release key will expired on 1st of June 2007. Thus, as a result the so call "crack" won't serve any longer.

Vista will be available on the store, 30 Jan 2007.

My comp is
Pentium 4 2.66Ghz.. 256Mb RAM, GeForce MX440..
will i face any problem if i upgrade to Vista?
*
Get more ram. Upgrade to a dirextX 9 compatible card if you want to see Aero glass on your desktop.

My system is Toshiba Satellite 2450, with 2.53Ghz, 768Mb RAM, and GF4 420Go. Sadly said, I'm not able to upgrade my GPU, so no Aero for me.

For those who use the created PPPoE connection in their Vista RTM to connect to Streamyx (not using router or ICS as gateway), if you having the problem of the connection halt at the connecting stage and couldn't connected, here is the solution.

I got the reply from Microsoft, the problem is the IPv6 couldn't converges. Disable IPv6 of your Streamyx connection will solve the problem. Refer to the screenshot.
