QUOTE Windows Vista Just Gold and Already CrackedPosted Nov 14, 2006, 5:39 PM ET so fast they crack it le ah?Microsoft Corp.'s Windows Vista has just gone gold and it appears that the anti-piracy measures have already been cracked. Microsoft Corp. just announced excitedly that Windows Vista and Microsoft Office 2007 have gone gold, but at the same time, hackers may have cracked the Windows Vista anti-piracy measures. Various pirate websites have a version of Vista available to download, called "Vista BillGates". The cracked version of Vista comes supplied with a product key, allowing users to install the operating system on their computers unhindered. There is also a second patch called the "activation crack" that must be applied that bypasses the activation process used by Vista to ensure that each installation is legitimate. The same sites have also started offering Microsoft Office 2007 Enterprise Editions for which users simply have to enter the supplied product key code. Office does not require activation. Microsoft Corp. declined comment but did assure the media that they would be working hard to quickly move against the piracy of their products. They are capable of deactivating pirated copies of Windows Vista by sending a patch through Windows Update that can invalidate certain product keys. |
