QUOTE(mzms @ Feb 20 2007, 07:55 AM) well, I am now thinking of reformating and reinstalling XP back into my disk again. After using Vista exclusively I find that a lot of things don't work well and not Vista compatible like my external drive, Ulead Movie 10, PowerDVD, Nero, my BM-BI/BI-BM dictionary Kamus Dewan, Encarta 2007, and sometimes OpenOffice Writer won't close and Yahoo Messenger (latest) won't start. Furthermore, my Divx encoder pack doesn't work with Vista and that's a huge bummer. Power DVD - Try changing compatibility Nero - Use latest YM - works well for me DivX encoder - Use Virtual Dub, a free encoder, and it's more powerfull too

Just be patient might help sometimes. It is the fact that there were sme programs not fully ready for Vista.
For 64 bit, try to look for software issues using 64 bit system. It might help hopefully.

For YM, get the latest version, I think is 8.1b and it should work

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I upgraed to Nero 7.5 (trial)_ and it worked flawlessly unfortunately the update to my Ulead VideoStudio 10 didn't work that well and even though I can run it in Vista Basic mode, it gave a lot of problems like not able to open divx files (it could in XP) which I feel is related to Divx not having fully Vista compatible codecs. And I was already using latest version of Yahoo. I think Vista just gave me a bit too many problems as an everyday productivity computer as I switched to it exclusively. I think it's just too early to switch so I am now back to good old XP and it really feels like returning home after a foreign trip haha. Good to be home...

[quote=dattebayo,Feb 18 2007, 06:19 PM] check ur RAM modules, try remove 1 GB from them are u installing vista into a SATA HDD ? I heard that for certain SATA, you need to change some BIOS settings...
will try to remove 1gb rams first.... is SATA 2 supported by Windows Vista? because my 250 WD is Sata 2 i feel its my hard disc... will try the rams first.
thanks for the info...
Hi Sifus,
I still face same problem. When it goes to complete installation it will automatically restart, and upon restart i enter using normal mode and after the loading bar it will come out a blue screen for 2 secs and close down. I tried remove my sound card and also used 1GB of 2GB of ram. I got a feel that my graphic card is not supported? mine is Gecube Ati x1600pro 512mb 128bit please advice.
Thanks.

I use 1GB but I feel that there is a slight increase in performance or maybe just now imagination If u got unused tumbdrive just put it in, but if u tend to buy a tumbdrive just for te readyboost feature might as well as physical RAM which gain u more performance.

Don't think that's the problem. I have no problem using an old X600. Try unpluggin all ur HDD and just leave the one that you want to install teh windows only. Thanks. I dun think its your graphics card, i'm using GeCube x1600XT 256Mb and no problems so far. I have Win XP on my 1st SATA HD, and installed Vista on my 2nd drive which is also SATA. Both running ok. Cheers

OEM version is tied to the first ever PC's motherboard it is installed on. Unless your new PC has the same model of motherboard, otherwise its not possible to activate OEM version on 2 different mobos. Retail version dont have this problem though QUOTE(jiant @ Feb 21 2007, 06:30 PM) may i know the size of the file totally in vista full version? by default the windows directory should be 7-9GB after installation. The installer DVD is 2.5 GB

Hmm. I think i read somewhere about vista memory performance when running games and other heavy applications.
If im not mistaken, at this moment, Vista lack of performance than XP for this duty.
