guys, what updates have you downloaded via Windows Updates? Seems like if I download the Nvidia Geforce update it will disable Aero so I had to reenable it in windows registry.

Lesson #1 - Always only use official drivers from your product manufacturer (ex: Nvidia, ATI, Creative etc), unless the drivers is not available from them.
it's not a driver. i downloaded cos my windows update is automated and the nvidia update was listed as "IMPORTANT" update. now i set my win update to only notify me.
Hello, I'm planning on getting an OEM Vista Home Premium, since the non-OEM one is freaking expensive, and will kill my budget.
Got a few questions though: OEM means you can only install on one PC, rite? Lets say I install on this PC now, then 1 year later I buy a new PC. To install to that, I need to call Microsoft or something?
Also, what added things does Ultimate have, other than extra networking/System restore?

This has been said many times already. Only change mobo considered as new PC. Otherwise it's fine.
But actually u can change also, they're quite lenient i think. One guy running a shop said he has done that for customers when their mobo burst. MS still allow them to activate.

I downloaded the latest ATi driver from AMD's site.... and c'mon, am I that stupid to install XP driver, considering that I was one of the earliest here to use Vista? Care to note that while many hardware can run on Vista using XP's driver, this does not include VGA

it doesnt matter wad dey call it...vista @ longhorn...
Added on February 14, 2007, 10:39 ambut i heard dat vista is the most bugging os ever...no cheers to that...boooo..
While you may live in the age of dragons and knights, ppl here has already dropped Longhorn ages ago, and not only calling Vista 'Longhorn' is technically wrong, it's not legal anymore too.....
Your second comment is the truth about some so called 'PC Enthutiast'. They just read about something and without checking with other, they believed it's true. I think you are referring to UAC, which pops up everytime you want to install. Yes, this might be bugging, but the tradeoff is, no longer spyware can install program in the background. I think with the right firewall and not visiting porn site, UAC is not needed, but then again human tend to do that and what they do after that? Blame the OS. And considering that Vista is based on Server 2003 instead of XP, it's more secure and reliable.

O, thanks for the reply. Now all I need to know are the Vista Ultimate extras.

hi guys, mine problem is whenever i in sleep mode n go back again, the screen seems corrupted! did u guys facing this problem? by the way, i am using 7900gt n the latest driver from nvidia.....
Basically it combines everything in Home Premium and Vista Enterprise:
1. Windows Complete PC Backup and Restore 2. Windows BitLocker Drive Encryption 3. Networking Center and Remote Desktop ( if I'm not mistaken in Home Premium u can accept Remote Desktop from others but u can't be controlled) 4. Video wallpaper support 5. Multi-Lingual user interface support
"Your desktop background comes to life with Windows DreamScene(tm). When you download this Ultimate Extra, you can select a video for your desktop background the same way you select a stationary picture. You can choose one of the high-quality looping videos that we've included, or use a video from a company that produces content for DreamScene. You can even use your own video as a background....".
Due to some unforeseen circumstances, DreamScene has been postponed. But u can try to get the beta version here! It's for 32bit Vista though.

Yea i get that too. Am on 7900GS. Its bcuz of nvidias driver. Dont download the 5 Jan 07 whql drivers, but instead get the 31 jan 07 beta drivers. It works better on most games, but still buggy tho.
