What is your previous phone? If your phone is not too old, chances are you can bluetooth all your contacts from your old phone to the IS. Just use the "transfer data" tool in your IS. I transferred my contact from my nokia n82 to my IS within a minute's time 
*Btw, you can even transfer your sms over using the same tool
