Android OS is built to sustain frequently running applications in memory. This is to ensure that critical applications can be launched in an instant without bogging down the user experience.

When an app is kept in memory, it uses very few resources (unless its an app that syncs every now and then)

hmm, then will it drain battery down?

To kill and it being automatically restarting is more battery draining than just letting it sit there.
