brand- best asus N53sn/sv or N43?
buget- 2-3k+-
spec- i7 or i5 (tats what im asking)
size-14'-15' (best 15'' as be using it for 24 hours somedays)
portability- a must! in campus usage no alien or G53/73 or saber sad.gif

>im a student using GIS (geographic infomation software) but my current uni lab has x2 8000 series Tesla GPU's installed 8GB ram and 3.2 ghz i7 but loads up quite slowly
>i own a dv6000 7 year old, barely alive
>question is, the current stores keep telling me there is only n53sv in stock and it's quite a pain should i get the i5 version knowing it runs slowie on a i7 tower
>choose asus (warranty)as i am mal living in sydney but able to ship 1 from mal this 21 april soo make best of what $ i hav
>also will it void my warranty if i upgrade to 8gb ram(hows the slots for these laps?)

>fast reply with store name in lowyat KL selling is greatly appreciated, THX!

okay, noted~ better start saving...

hmmm, if i leave my lappie to render... will it get heat up... for both models ?  blink.gif  ( i heard from friends that, they advice me not to do 3dmax render using a laptop as it could burn up the motherboard inside.. )
*
hi ho, juz to let u know im in the built environment too, GIS user. I hav frends who use 2 years back alienware mx17 to render (3dmax, autocad 2007, archicad) loads of stuff and it didnt break a sweat! oh playing crysis is also a can!
itz a good choise to upgrage to the max processor 2870QM something and 8 gb ram, the other are optional.. built overall will reach 9k ringgit..
if u do intense color shadders then u can upgrade the screen or plug it to an external<cheaper> (upgraded screen is 1k ringgit)

unless u wan save money like me.. i guess the n53 sn is juz as great, juz throw 2 more 2gb ram in the dimm and u get ample power,
heat will be bearable my aust pple using it are a-okie withe it, add a cooler and itz fine
note- the n53sn is juz hard to find... no one wants to reply me where 2 get it in malaysia.. as im currently in sydney..

what do u mean by intense color shadders?

2 more 2gb ram = 8g ram?
  aiks... thats hard..

like if u like to colour ur drawings in th pshop in full HD n nice rgb levels then the screen will be a nice upgrade
( the alienware mx17 i mention was a 2009 model and didnt heatup to hotttt levels- soo the new processors will be much cooler comparatively)

the N53sn has 4 dimm slots for ram-remove the under rubber feets to expose the screws. open the lid, sud c 2 ram modules n 2 free ram modules. buy 2 ddr3 1333 mhz 2gb ram modules and add into it.. or juz buy the lappie n ask shopkeeper add 4 u..

Many XPS or Inspirons?

Dell is very general overall wink.gif
*
basic model of dell super many problems, beyond as mention, not advised. esp if u go international to change.. not a single help unless pay handeling service n fixing charge, not to mention shipping
xps got probs but not as many complaints. but still gt probs like heat caused probs(ventilation bad design- thy sud get the alien designers for them like what hp did with beats for sound) monitor- blackouts, hhd crash.these is main probs.. and to top it off u are still paying premium price for and xps 15 or xps 16 studio

warrenty i dun think itz great but if within malaysia u get ok cover. my other frend 4 months bought, bring australia, hdd fail.. reformat not cover.. 8 months.. screen fail.. not cover... she got soo angry and when i told her dell main probs she got mad at me... nvr warn pple early..now im warning pple if they wan go international paying the conversion price while in white countries where labour are expensive.. gud luck fixing it thumbup.gif

I thought the XPS warranty also cover for the software issues as well?
*
not quite sure, but soofar too many bad review of dell laptops around me so i dun really want to risk my $ on it.
did i tell u once that a dell vestro desktop mini psu exploded im my office causing a power failure(trip) for the floor..man tat was scary. it was a recent model.. i opned up.. the components wre soo packed, like if there is even any airflow if itz parts(heavily rely on exhaust fans).
No hope, i vowed not to get dell unless they really buckup. but aliens are fine, soo far not many complains other than weight. but pple dun understand itz a gaming laptop.. u pay for the weight as a counter balance for power~
