Hi guys/gals,

I have two choices of destop replacement for work and leisure that I am looking at the moment. Appreciate any input on which way to go.

Asus N73SV-A1 with i7-2630QM, 6GB DDR3 RAM, 2 X 320GB HDD Raid 0 or 1,17.3HD+ (1600 X900) display,BluRay DVD Combo, USB2 and 3, GT540M GPU and etc at about 4150MYR landed ( 2 years warranty) OR

MSI FX700 17.3" display, with i5-480M, 6GB DDR3 RAM, single 640GB HDD, 17.3HD+ (1600X900) Display, GT425 GPU, BluRay Combo, USB2 and 3 and etc at 3150MYR landed (1 year Global warranty). The finishing looks goods, textured.

Understand that the i7 CPU generates quite alot of heat, the Sandy bridge CPU will be about the same heat and the recent new CPU SATA degradation raised some concerns if any other issues will crops later.

I have a dual core desktop about 5 years old DELL Dimension 9150 that overheats and also had a HDD failure 2 years back, a 6 years old Dell Inspiron 9300 17" display that is already sluggish and needs a laptop cooler to make it happy, and a recent Lenovo netbook s10-3.

Primary question, is the sandy bridge truly tested to be reliable over time??

the n73 spec wise seems pretty cool but its certainly much more pricey and if you're going for the msi i think the asus n53sv sounds like a better bargain though you'll lose the 17 inch screen for a 15 incher..... icon_rolleyes.gif
