based on your requirement, it almost seems like you've already picked N53SV haha...its i5 in malaysia though...if u can get the one with i7 it'll suit your needs most, but not sure if it'll still remain below 3k
*
then will be acer 5750 for below 3k with i7
hopefully i didn't memorize wrong those model tongue.gif

The build quality of the Inspiron 15R is definitely not as good as that of Asus N53... but it doesn't really matter if you have Dell's superb warranty  nod.gif
*
then how about xps and asus N series?
which build quality is better tongue.gif

I would suggest getting the ASUS one with i3. P6200 is just too old, battery consumption would be a problem

Got one port, more than enough laugh.gif
If you buy all USB 3.0 also not all devices will have USB 3.0, and not all connecting at once icon_idea.gif
ASUS's plan to lower the price is good!
*
but some say n53sv don't have usb3.0... some say got...
which is correct?? hmm.gif

+1. I'm really waiting for the 14 inch version
15 inch version truly bulky shakehead.gif

There are really pros and cons in everything, depends on which one suites you best and also meets all of your conditions nod.gif
Personally would go for ASUS N-series laugh.gif Price-to-performance ratio is my problem.
*
just want to see which build quality is better...
+1, prefer N series design than xps, look odd
and everyone say that N series build material is good rclxms.gif

i have USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 external HDD... USB 3.0 performs much faster in transfering files such as MKV and HD movies. in theory... 5gbps vs 480mbps... what i got about 100MB/s++ vs 40MB/s.

Added on April 3, 2011, 11:42 pm
will the 4G dogle, AV and 3yrs warranty which come with 4750g useful compared to dell on-site 1 yr warranty? is 3yrs limited warranty same as extende warranty?
*
wa...
why seagate freeagent goflex transfer like turtle for around 200mb movie...

Then it would only run at USB 2.0 speed even if you use USB 3.0 devices...
*
that seagate hdd using usb 2.0 only, my sister didn't upgrade it to usb 3.0
but i thought it will be quite fast, at least till 50mb/s or so...
but when i borrow it to use, quite disappointed with the speed tongue.gif

No, theoretically USB 2.0 can achieve max 60MB/s, but most of the time just 20MB/s++
*
i see mine seagate speed, 15mb/s also very hard to get...
sometime only 10mb/s...
only those normal rmvb movie
related to other factors as well for this speed?? hmm.gif

Could be relating to CPU...
I downclock my CPU speed and transfer speed dropped 5MB/s..
*
haha, then i think i know what happen
my old dell laptop got lot problems
always CPU usage can shoot up to 100% (not really much programs are use) and hot air blowing out from air vent...
overwork probably tongue.gif
my first laptop, don't know to care of it biggrin.gif
