QUOTE(PF T.J. @ Mar 28 2011, 04:44 PM) [/spoiler] Not aware of such model in Malaysia... usually different countries will have laptops with different specs If its really RM2250 with those specs, its a steal haha... but do take note that you may experience problems with claiming your warranty over here.... The 14 inchers (of Malaysia) which are the nearest in terms of performance would be the Acer TimelineX 4830Tg and Asus A43Sv, both with (i5-2410M + Nvidia GT540M). I see, i wont worry about warranty issue cause i work at SG,

QUOTE(PF T.J. @ Mar 28 2011, 05:26 PM) Then you should try Acer's TimelineX 4830TG or Asus A43Sv... TimelineX and Ethos are Acer's premium lines Unless your work requires a lot of processing power, getting an i5-2410M won't affect gaming performance Will consider about acer brand, cause quite a lot of friends use liao ask dont buy, lol...

QUOTE(Najmods @ Mar 29 2011, 11:29 AM) Of course, its like asking whether Intel or AMD, most people will say AMD hot even though its been 11 years since that happen Acer laptop nowadays are much better build than other brand in the same price, and also better spec as well. It depends on how you use them, some of my friends Acer laptop working great for 4+ years. But i can say, most of my frens use acer laptop, all will complain. But i know all brands sure will have ppl complain, just in my mind, is plan to get Asus or Dell 1st...

QUOTE(munnie @ Mar 29 2011, 12:00 PM) If my budget was around 4k , what u guys recommend ? Light gamin like dota , do assingment , watch drama only. Added on March 29, 2011, 12:01 pmFor gaming like dota, dont need too high GC. So i think get i5 + any ati/amd/nvidia gc will do. Laptop stuff keep update, we cant keep follow unless u very rich or u use to play high-end games. For my advice, spend Rm2.5k like that to get new laptop and save the change. After 2-3 years, upgrade again...

QUOTE(PF T.J. @ Mar 29 2011, 03:58 PM) So, budget? Usage? size? If you're referring to the Acer 4830Tg, there's always the rival Asus A43Sv Budget ar, actually no limit la but i think i use for surfing, drama and play dota, no need too high end also. The acer i refer is 4750G, which u said not available in Msia. My current laptop is Compaq with AMD processor, going die soon...

QUOTE(djronzai @ Apr 11 2011, 01:04 PM) very noob? got few example of compaq? I think just HP = hi-end, Comapq = low-end. I owned Compaq laptop with AMD processor, after 2 years using, can feel the laptop is getting hot when gaming and my lcd got 1 straight line at the bottom area. I looking for new laptop but think wont go for Compaq anymore, will try Asus and MSI, still prefer AMD processor,

QUOTE(PF T.J. @ Apr 11 2011, 01:34 PM) Yeap, Compaqs are low-end HP, heard a lot of bad things about them But they sure are cheap~ QUOTE(astria) Work 1. Asus X42DE, AMD Phenom II N830 + ATI HD5470@RM1599, FreeDOS 2. Lenovo V470, i7-2630QM + Intel HD3000@RM2699 3. HP Compaq CQ42, AMD Phenom II P840 + ATI HD5470@RM2099
Running Photoshop need not break your wallet. You can get a nice work rig for less than rm3k too. X42De tops the list as it comes with a tri-core (3 cores) CPU and a dedicated GPU. Perfect for programs that are optimized for GPGPU or OpenCL. V470 comes out 2nd since it has the latest Intel Sandy Bridge CPU, which packs some serious performance in multi-thread environment. But do take note Intel graphic do not support GPGPU at the moment. Yea, im using Compaq 1 so i know good or not, lol. Thanks for ur info, Asus 1 look good,

QUOTE(reality666 @ Apr 11 2011, 04:00 PM) Asus N53sn is top of my list now.... however i learn from the forum here i7 not that suitable for gaming compared to i5 correct me if i'm wrong since i'm quite bad in this So i'm looking for alternatives or 2nd opinion. Thanks for the advice anyway... i7 for me is for those hardcore or heavy user for laptop like gaming or programing work. Some more what i know is, GTX gc only available for i7 processor which support direct-x 11 game like Crisis at the moment...

QUOTE(PF T.J. @ Apr 11 2011, 04:09 PM) Not really, the new SB i7 shouldn't have any problems gaming since they have higher base clocks The problem you mentioned was only applicable to the Nehalem i7s... Do take note that using SB i3/i5/i7 won't have much difference in terms of gaming performance though if the GPU is the same. But since the N53SN uses GT550M, its already better than almost all of its rival at this price range 1 salesman told me, i3 = dual core, i5 = core 2 duo, i7 = quad core, is this true? I outdated 2-3 years ago and just know i7 = quad core... This post has been edited by ic3rock: Apr 11 2011, 04:26 PM
