i3 is much better and faster than P6200 right?

Yeap, but whether one needs the additional performance should be considered nod.gif

If work is more important, Lenovo Z460 (powerful processor, ergonomic keyboard)
If gaming is more important, then Asus A42Jy laugh.gif (Slightly better GPU, poor speakers)
But do take note that the A42Jy comes with FreeDOS (no Windows) even though it comes with 2 years free international warranty...

Perhaps you could go and check out both models before making the final decision? Its quite a hard pick laugh.gif

Guys, i narrowed down to 2 laptops only ..

Dell Inspiron 15R Core i7SB RM2999 with 3 years warranty 2 USB 3.0

                                 or

Asus N53SV Core i5SB RM2799 with 2 years warranty No USB 3.0

Which is the best deal ?? Im not a very hardcore gamer ... May i know is the GT525M in Dell capable of running most recent games on medium setting ?
*
LOL, I thought you've narrowed down to these 2 laptops along time ago? laugh.gif
Yeap, the GT525 should be able to handle low-medium graphics, with some minor tweaks on the resolution, AA, graphic settings etc.
But as mentioned earlier, gaming depends on the GPU... and the gaming performance is not really affected by the processor no matter its an SB i3/i5 or i7

Acer
TimelineX 3820TG, i3-380M + AMD HD6550[1.8kg]@RM2199
This should be the best (no SB though, not much SB options in the market atm for something <1.9kg within RM3k), extend the warranty to 3 years and you're good to go laugh.gif
Do take note that it doesn't have an optical drive o... 2nd pick would be the more expensive Asus U36Jc

Hi, I need some recommendations on laptops. Here's the details:

1. Brand: Any

2. Budget: RM5,000

3. Specs: Any

4. Size: Light

5. Purpose: Studies

Thanks!

P.S Is a Mac necessary for Pre-U studies? My friend told me that using Mac for Pre-U/University is not good because when you're needed to give a presentation, it will be harder to connect to the screen if compared to using Windows. Is this true?

1. Brand: any, but preferably more reliable for use more than 3yrs
2. Budget: around 4k
3. Specs: i7, battery life more than 6hr, decent graphic card for gaming, volume/play pause button control, decent speakers for movies, 4gb ram and 500gb harddisk
4. Size: 16" or 17" screen, i wont mind if its larger

would i also be able to get 1080p full HD for this price?

Your description is abit too general? Studies may range from using very sophisticated 3D/calculation programs to merely Microsoft Office...
It would be useful if you could state your usage and preferred laptop size (instead of just mentioning light cause different people have different perspective on "light") laugh.gif

Yes, you need special adapters to connect Macs to the normal VGA port on projectors... and to make things worse, there are 2 types of adapters depending on your Mac sweat.gif

6 hours is impossible on something so big and powerful (at this time) laugh.gif

Oh ok sorry. Here's something more detailed:

1. Brand: Preferably Apple, but I guess anything goes.

2. Budget: RM5,000

3. Specs: Any

4. Size: 13.0" to 16.0"

5. Purpose: Pre-University Science subject studies - probably creating documents, presentations, etc.

So it really IS much harder and more illogical to use Macs when studying. I guess I should forget about Macs then lol.

Well, MacBook/MacBook Pro don't have VGA port built-in, you need to buy the converter and bring it to every presentation...

Thanks for giving me some basic information.

I've found two models, U36JC-RX162V and U41JF-WO134V. Why is the 14" (U41J) laptop cheaper than the 13.3" (U36JC) laptop?

In your opinion, is it really necessary to spend up to RM5,000 to buy a laptop that will be primarily be used for purposes of studying?

My opinion is no.
5k is too much already hmm.gif
Primarily use to study I think depends on what you study, but about 2.3k can get

Since u wont be needing that sort of performance i say u only need half the price of ur budget to get something good enough. 5k lappy to use microsoft office and presentations is overkill lol. I dont even use something tht expensive for 3D stuff~
