QUOTE(Koki @ May 8 2011, 07:39 PM) Eh bros, wanna ask if an engineering student get an i5 with HD3000 who also happens to play a lot of Flash games and some non-hardcore games and does Photoshop with a little video editing Okay Sounds okay? Eying the Lenovo G470? Added on May 8, 2011, 9:21 pm QUOTE(Borsch Soup @ May 8 2011, 07:44 PM) Not sure which one has Optimus lol, but generally 14" with SB i3 will have decent battery life. Perhaps up to 4-5 hours? Added on May 8, 2011, 9:24 pm QUOTE(Popoko @ May 8 2011, 09:19 PM) Sufficient This post has been edited by [PF] T.J.: May 8 2011, 09:24 PM |

QUOTE(Koki @ May 8 2011, 10:06 PM) Yeah, eyeing on something cheap The G470 would be a very good option due to the ergonomic keyboard (LOL, I dunno repeat how many times liao What if... running games with Portal 2-like graphics? And hackintoshable? Wanna dual boot Best if can run on vanilla kernel I think Portal 2 has rather demanding graphics? Dun think the Intel HD3000 can really handle the game, but I'm not too sure since I've never played before... Can't comment on hackintosh as well, no experience, sorry |

QUOTE(Koki @ May 9 2011, 03:13 PM) If looking at other models with an i5 without dedicated graphic card, what would you guys recommend? Lenovo G470 would be the only one that fits your requirements I think, especially the "having dedicated multimedia keys" part Budget as low as possible, 13/14 inch and also have dedicated multimedia keys with at least one USB 3.0 Something like the Lenovo G470 Closest would be Dell's Inspiron 14R, Vostro 3450/3350? But I don't think they have the multimedia keys you wanted Added on May 9, 2011, 3:22 pm QUOTE(JYong @ May 9 2011, 03:14 PM) Edit, just checked, the codings for the SB is different from Arrandale, so its not just 1 level up This post has been edited by [PF] T.J.: May 9 2011, 03:26 PM |

QUOTE(Koki @ May 9 2011, 03:24 PM) Depending on what you think its worth it... if based on specs alone, then its rather clear that the Lenovo is better But whether a laptop is worth it or not doesn't really rely on merely the specs... Sorry about the wrong information, just checked Wikipedia... It seems i5-2410M < i5-2510E < i5-2515E < i5-2520M < i5-2540M Basically the CPU clocks for the i5-2510E = i5-2515E = i5-2520M, only difference is the i5-2520M having slightly higher GPU clocks I wonder what those "E" suffixes behind the codes mean @Jyong, so unless you want to buy a laptop without a dedicated GPU, might as well go for the i5-2510E/15E (if they come out) haha This post has been edited by [PF] T.J.: May 9 2011, 03:31 PM |

QUOTE(DoubleU @ May 9 2011, 09:29 PM) hey guys, Iinm, the Dv4 has improved cooling system and is not hot, you can take a look at those Dv4 threads to confirm this Pavilion Dv4, i5-2410M + AMD HD6750@RM2899 vs N43SL, i5-2410M + Nvidia GT540M@RM2599[Bang & Olufsen] vs N53Sv, i5-2410M + Nvidia GT540M(1GB)@RM2599 [Bang & Olufsen] which one ah? HP scared it run very hot and which one has better build quality. not very bothered about the difference in performance. Asus one... any major difference between the 14 and 15" model? (like, temperature, build quality) Between the 14" and 15" N series... 14" has longer battery life, less weight, less keyboard flex and probably poorer cooling... Conversely, 15" has shorter battery life, heavier, more keyboard flex and probably better cooling... If performance differences is not an issue to you, just get the N43SL since its cheaper |
