You're not wrong, we do have more flexibility in terms of choices when it comes to 14"...
But some people would prefer smaller laptops... its all because of the size, rather than the weight

Yeap, I think the A and N series should have better cooling... U series will probably be hotter because of its slim design

I've never had heat problems with the HDD on my previous laptops... but they say the Asus A series's can get quite hot

Well, the new A series is different from the previous batch... so the cooling may be different liao

Does yours experience the "Display driver has stopped working and has recovered" problem?
If yes then try updating the Nvidia driver to the latest one (270.61) then only sell, it'll solve the problem

Yeap, no point getting a laptop with a GT540M and not using it at all
So the question now turns to why Acer din't bring in them Acer 3830T

Not sure whether it bundles with external optical drive or not, but you could always bargain if it doesn't... How much did the shop offer you for the laptop?

Yeap, the Asus comes with 2 years international warranty as well
Try not to expect too much from the laptop and you'll be fine

Battery life will vary depending on screen size and also the dedicated GPU used

Based on available benchmarks, the i5-2537M is slightly weaker than the i3-330M (non-ULV)... which is rather impressive I would say for a ULV
Well, the latest SB processors are capable of offering decent battery life already I would say... unless you're aiming for those very slim-type laptops
You can always add more RAM for better performance for Photoshop
