i need a opinion here...
which one should i choose ???
>>Toshiba PORTEGE T210 11.6" or
>>HP dm1z 11.6"

main use for surfing...and good HD graphic??!!
thanks!! notworthy.gif
*
If strictly these 2 models:
Portege T210 has a better CPU, whereas HP has a better GPU... so its down to whether you game or not nod.gif
There are other alternatives for the price though~

For your price range and requirement (lightweight), assuming less than RM2k:

If its me, I would go for the one underlined. Or any laptop with E-350 + AMD HD6310 (down to personal preferences) nod.gif

thanks a lot...
so which is better in terms of performance

i3-380UM+Intel® HD vs
U5400+Intel® HD vs
E-350+AMD HD6310

mainly for office work, surfing internet, watching movies and some games like racing games(NFS etc) and sport games(FIFA@NFL etc)  tongue.gif
*
You would want to sacrifice the processing power for GPU power if you're into gaming nod.gif
So the AMD APUs would be the choice, and we're definitely spoilt for choice over here hehe brows.gif
Which AMD lappy to choose depends on the additional features i.e. USB 3.0, larger HDD etc. and of course, design~

13"???
price nearly like acer 5750g
but sony vaio did have very very nice design... drool.gif
*
Vaio usually sells based on the design thumbup.gif
And most of the buyers are usually girls laugh.gif

As for 13 inchers, I guess you better wait for a while as SB 13" are even rarer than SB 14" sweat.gif
What caught my eye is the Acer 3830T and 3830Tg in Singapork, damn nice wub.gif

guys i forgot to ask. the dell 14r, how is the keyboard layout? to press the F1 F2 ... buttons  you need to press and hols the "Fn" button right? won't that be bad for games that needs fast F1 F2 tapping?
*
Based on the photo shown by Dell Malaysia here:
Attached Image

For F1, F2, you just need to press it. Fn keys are used only when you want to adjust things like the brightness, volume etc.
For Toshiba, you could map the function of each keys, I think you could probably do that as well for Dell hmm.gif

Damn, I love the chiclet keyboards on the new Inspirons wub.gif

but sifu PF T.J i saw a video review on youtube and at 2:08 i can see that the F1  F2 keys are highlighted in blue which means you will have to press and hold the "Fn" button? or did i got the wrong laptop?  tongue.gif

Err... I have a very laggy connection here, can't finish watching the video.. but based on the sticker on the palm rest, the laptop is running on the old Core i i3 processor, meaning the laptop is probably the old Inspiron 14R... The new one is different nod.gif (another key difference would be the keyboard, the new one has chiclet keyboards)
For further clarification perhaps you could go and see the laptop in reality, or just give Dell a call nod.gif

P/S: The kid's hair is freaking me out laugh.gif

Nope, we have a cow with a gun who've personally did that before the Acer 3820Tg was announced here in Malaysia after a few hundred years thumbup.gif
But you may need to get international warranty lo... and who knows maybe Malaysia will get this laptop late... again sweat.gif

Yep the new SB look cool, but i prefer older generation S with circular ring hinges. The new C also look nice but only on vids n pics, realife, the so called light reflex material look somekinda cheap plastic!  ohmy.gif unacceptable for laptop that use "premium" as the marketing point.

Designs also actually on the top on my list on buying not only laptop but almost anything which strongly suggest my recent laptop purchase whistling.gif
*
The TimelineX 4830Tg is more matured in terms of design, with a little bit of Mac in it wub.gif
I kind of like the fluorescence in them new Vaio units though, really sweet... not sure of the model though, are those Vaio Cs? hmm.gif
BUt to me its abit too striking for my taste...Something like the Z series which is more conserved would be most welcomed notworthy.gif

Those are new Vaio C series, u gotta feel n see em real life to see how thier built n looks, I actually bargaining for a white Vaio C on last PC Expo, it was rm3299.00 n i show the seller rm3200 on his face laugh.gif but he can only give me rm9 discount so no deal lol. I think im gonna belanja him nasi lemak if i ever found that saleman again, if that was a deal, i never would even resting my palm on a supremely beautiful cool blue machinery right now biggrin.gif
*
Oh I see, I did saw some display units in LYP laugh.gif
I love the one in grey, the design is really different, less monotonous... but I'm still can't really accept the "striking-ness" of those laptops... too bright, just welcoming ppl to steal it laugh.gif
Well, you sure had a great deal there, so lucky thumbup.gif

14"
Acer Aspire 4743ZG, P6200 + Nvidia GT520M@RM1749, 3 years local limited warranty
MSI FX420, i5-2410M + AMD HD6470@RM2099, FreeDOS/RM2299(W7HP), 3 years warranty

Or you could just go with those laptops with the new SB processors, the GPU, even though integrated, would be sufficient for DOTA laugh.gif

hey 13" with i5 at least , and good graphic card tat able to play cod black ops at medium setting at least... any??~

Depends on how much you want to pay, there are some expensive Sonys brows.gif
But if you're looking for a cheap laptop with SB i5 and a decent dedicated GPU... then there's really not much, if not nothing here I think sweat.gif
Again, look for the Singaporean 3830Tg

If i consider the acer one, is the processor good enough for daily use?

Enough nod.gif
But for me, I would rather go for the new SB processor since its even better, but that means sacrificing a little bit of GPU power though laugh.gif
Or can try to increase your budget to around RM2.2-2.5k so noneed to compromise that much hmm.gif

Actually at the moment my priority is as cheap as possible since this will only be a weekday laptop..mainly surfing, office work and sometimes dota like i mentioned..haha..are dells lineup good?saw some really cheap ones there
*
Nothing new and cheap from Dell at the moment.
The older Inpisron 14R, i3-390M + ATI HD5650@RM2199 or Satellite L645, i3-380M + ATI HD5650@RM1999 would be good though if you don't mind the relatively older hardware..
There's the 13" TimelineX 3820TG, i3-380M + AMD HD6550[1.8kg]@RM2199 as well

HP Compaqs are budget-line laptops, whereas the remaining HP are premium ones nod.gif

I think just HP = hi-end, Comapq = low-end. I owned Compaq laptop with AMD processor, after 2 years using, can feel the laptop is getting hot when gaming and my lcd got 1 straight line at the bottom area. I looking for new laptop but think wont go for Compaq anymore, will try Asus and MSI, still prefer AMD processor,  tongue.gif

Yeap, Compaqs are low-end HP, heard a lot of bad things about them sweat.gif But they sure are cheap~

QUOTE(astria)
Work
1. Asus X42DE, AMD Phenom II N830 + ATI HD5470@RM1599, FreeDOS
2. Lenovo V470, i7-2630QM + Intel HD3000@RM2699
3. HP Compaq CQ42, AMD Phenom II P840 + ATI HD5470@RM2099

Running Photoshop need not break your wallet. You can get a nice work rig for less than rm3k too. X42De tops the list as it comes with a tri-core (3 cores) CPU and a dedicated GPU. Perfect for programs that are optimized for GPGPU or OpenCL. V470 comes out 2nd since it has the latest Intel Sandy Bridge CPU, which packs some serious performance in multi-thread environment. But do take note Intel graphic do not support GPGPU at the moment.
