Show which 3820TG is hot.
Which Asus don't have fan ?
*
The Acer i mention is not 3820TG, model last year. Asus A/N series got no fan on CPU and GPU, just got fan at side. Like Acer 4830TG
Edit:Asus one got heatsink on both CPU and GPU connected to the fan. Acer one i can't find it's heatsink sweat.gif

Asus don't have.
HP need to go with HP Probook 4420s, but only Intel HD...

Consider the Dell Vostro 3450/3550..

Choose got graphics card one, cs5 need graphics card which support Shader Model 3.0, OpenGL 2.0 and 256MB VRAM for it's GPU-accelerated features...HD3000 cannot handle it well.

since im not buying soon, maybe by latest in early july. i might even continue using my desktop until the end of the year
so im not rushing this. just think i might as well follow this thread for now.

since u're asking, basically:

brand : dell, asus (any other brand that you guys think is good, i will considered it)
budget :around 3.5k (maybe can top up a bit to max 4k)
spec: i7 sb, 2630qm should be more than enough
any decent gpu (preferred nvidia but since no support for optimus in linux yet, will be a waste to pay something that you cant use)
should be able for mild gaming in windows (borderlands, pes2011 and stuff) and good enough to run photoshop cs5
got freedos better, backlit keyboard is a bonus

what i don't really care : webcam, hdd size, battery life, weight
screen size: nothing more than 15", the smaller the better, a higher resolution is preferred however.

since im going to leave this desktop at home, so need a laptop to bring to my college
that can do most of what my desktop can do.

came across quite a few model but maybe i'm just picky,  laugh.gif
never mind, still a long way to go
*
hmm.gif You study creative multimedia? Actually you want i7 quad core for what? i5 is already enough for normal use, gaming, cs5~

Long lifespan? Something that will last you 5 years or so?

How about it's cooling ability compare to A-series and N-series? I think A-series and N-series should be better? hmm.gif

Hard to say, sometimes even the larger chassis have bad heat management because of poor heatpipe design.
*
A-series and N-series got good heatpipe design gua hmm.gif ~won't feel hot at all except the air from fan..
