QUOTE(edwinlcw @ May 9 2011, 08:03 PM) I asked the cs.. need to utilize the gold for six months then only call them and request for an upgrade. this is what the cs told me... Most CS say different things (at least based on my experience. Some will say wait for 6 to 12 months while others will say we'll forward your request to processing unit). I did not have to wait for 6 months to request an upgrade. I fax an upgrade request to 03-79538640 (cover letter stating I wish to request to upgrade my card to platinum, copy of IC, copy of payslip (RM5K or more salary) and copy of bank statement where the salary is credited. After few days, I received the platinum cards. Added on May 11, 2011, 10:15 amQUOTE(gahpadu @ May 10 2011, 05:20 PM) just received my card today. quite shocked with the credit limit stated gold just enough for me even I'm qualified for platinum, maybe will upgrade to platinum later on Since you are qualified, it's best to get platinum if you also want to take advantage of travel insurance and retail protection (purchase protection, extended warranty and return guarantee) for some purchase using the card. QUOTE(Human Nature @ May 14 2011, 06:36 PM) It is different for everyone. if you in need to know yours, check with the CS. +1 That's what I did with my cards. I like my due date on 15th or 16th only that's why I requested to change the billing statement so the due date will be my preferred date. Doing so will make all my cards' billing date or due date fall on the same date and then I'll start paying the same time. I don't have to remember that card A & B first week, card D & E end of the month, card F & G middle of the month. This post has been edited by dmatthews: May 14 2011, 06:55 PM

QUOTE(lctw87 @ May 26 2011, 11:13 PM) hey all, Wanna enquire sth bout the visa and master thing. I wanna apply bt dunno which 1 suits me better. My preference would be on easily accessible and utilizable overseas. Thanks IMHO and personally, it is not about payment system to use (MC or Visa) but the customer service, offers, features, how often the promo is, credit limit, interest and fees offered by the card issuer. Both payment system is accepted worldwide and the card issuer can issue the other if you want one, anyway. However, if you really have to chose between the two, think of the places or merchant that you want to use it. If most merchant has offering/promo on MC, then choose it than the Visa. It's only 'safe' to have both payment system and if possible from different bank, just in case there is problem with the other account or payment system or terminal.

QUOTE(@lowyat @ Jun 3 2011, 11:29 AM) currently i'm using the old maybank amex gold cc and a citibank mastercard. shall i cancel the maybank amex gold and citibank mastercard and apply for the maybank 2 card instead? this will save me the service tax. but i'm just worry about that if all my cards are from maybank and if maybank's system is down, does it means that i'm not able to use both the cards? this is important as i sometimes use it to pay hotel and food overseas. thanks IMHO it's best to keep both cards you got because it's different bank issuer (Maybank and Citibank). Also, you'll be able to take advantage of promotion by both bank. Also note that the features, offers and/or benefit of MBB dua cards is not the same as Amex gold. If you are considering MBB2 cards, just ask for it from Maybank. They should issue you if your pay is more than 36K and have good payment records. As to your concern on GST, some bank will waive it for you. Just give them a call.
