Hi smile.gif ,
I'm currently driving a 2001 proton waja 1.6 auto.Recently,my car developed a problem. When i'm driving, from the 1st gear to the 2nd gear, the car jerks. The same thing happens when the gear changes from the 2nd to 3rd.After changing to the 3rd gear, the N(neutral) starts blinking eventhough the gear is in the D(drive). After it starts blinking, the gear doesn't change anymore,it remains in the 3rd even when I stop or go faster. When moving from a stationary position after the N starts blinking, the pick-up is terrible because it remains in the 3rd gear. This happens on and off.I face this problem almost everyday.I checked this problem with a proton specialist,he said I have to change the sensors, but i read in an forum that changing the sensor doesn't solves the problem. rclxub.gif

So,any car specialist or waja users whom have had similiar problems, pls explain to me whats the problem and how would I solve it.

Thanks
stormyz

I changed my spark plug 4 months ago.The gearbox fluid i'm not sure.Btw,does this affects the gear changes?.When i changed my spark plugs, the problem seems to be solved, but after around a month,it started back.

ATF (fluid) is every 20000km and filter is 40000km. If u did not change, there u have it... buy a new gearbox.

most driver ignore the atf change thus resulting in problematic gearbox and blame the manufacture for poor component

For you info, waja, persona and gen 2 is using inves II gearbox which ATF fluid should be change at 40k km while it don't need to change the filter.

TS, if you can't solve the problem, feel free come to my workshop. I will help you fix on it. We do fixed alot of gearbox problem for waja. PM me if you need out service.

This is what most of the driver did. Another causes is because some of the workshop is giving wrong atf fluid.

Only true if u do normal driving (no high rev & no short trips). If u always a lot of high revving and many short trips (city start-stop), change every 20k. 40k is normal interval service. No harm doing it earlier. With older gearbox (found on Perdana and Wira), filter change is mandatory after 40k.

i'm not sure if waja's gearbox reads info from maf or not.certain auto cars does that.by cleaning (or change if faulty) the maf sensor the gearbox will start function properly again.
