to the TS,

pls remove Alpha Pharmacy from 5% category as I recently found out that it no longer entitles me to 5% cashback. It's easy to notice, because I charged big amt at the said pharmacy and I thought I reached quota already. Until the statement came out, I knew things have changed.

Done... could it be your mis-calculation previously ?

I never thought that purchases at pharmacy would give 5% cash back. It is not categorised under grocery.

It shouldn't be mistake.
As it was a huge amount, its impact was obvious.

Perhaps OCBC has classify it wrongly previously and now corrected it. Caring Pharmacy (Min RM30) and Guardian accepts AMEX, this could be an alternative.

I frequently Alpha Pharmacy because their price is very competitive.
Frankly say, even with Amex's 7.5% (5%+2.5%) cashback, Caring/watson/Guardian still can't beat Alpha.

Well, at least they are still willing to accept VISA/MasterCard with no extra charge smile.gif

If you followed the T & C, it should be 1%.

Eligible merchants and their associated merchant category codes (“MCC”) under the OCBC Titanium Cash Rebate Programme are as follow:

5% Cash rebate on Petrol, Groceries, Utility Bills and Dining
i) Petrol/Gas Stations (MCC codes 5541 and 5542)
ii) Grocery Stores (MCC codes 5411, 5422 and 5451)
iii)
Utility Bills (MCC codes 4814,s 4815, 4816,4821, 4899 and 4900)
iii)
Restaurant (MCC codes 5811, 5812, 5813 and 5814)

The MCC code tagging is maintained by the merchant acquirer and this may not necessarily be OCBC Bank. Unless OCBC Bank is the acquirer, OCBC won't know which merchant is 5% or which isn't.

That being said, MCC is highly regulated by MasterCard Worldwide, and is usually tagged correctly hence OCBC can have the confidence to give 5% on all petrol/dining/bills/groceries. There are still instances where some are incorrectly maintained but this is the acquirer's fault and not always OCBC(issuer).

Hope more people can be better informed about this because I really pity the poor OCBC CS team having to deal with insufferably boorish customers who keep demanding for "the list of merchants entitled for 5% cash back" because there's no way they can have the full listing. It's too long!

Hmm, that is good. I filed a formal complain to OCBC regarding this matter specifically on TMOnline and UOB PayOnline last week.

Just got this card today after being rejected twice due to unknown reasons and after couples of emails exchanges between me and OCBC.

Now I want to know if the 5% applicable for Malaysia only or it applies worldwide under the categorized MCC?

If your annual income 36K and below, you can only hold 2 CC. Else you can apply how many you want.

However, OCBC is very infamous of their rejection of applications.

Can we call the hotline/customer service to check MCC codes in our statements, after charging?
