Thanks 4 ur advise.. I've reinstall market application.. Working fine until now...

If I want to change my base band to current updated one.. Are these the correct steps?

1- Backup using CWM
2- Flash to I5503DXJP8 using odin
3- Flash CM7.1 Version 0.6 using odin from here http://hotfile.com/dl/122719156/211f808/cy...y5-v0.6.7z.html
4. Flash CWM (V4) using odin
5. Flash CM7.1 Version 1.0 using CWM
6. Install Hotfix 1.0
7. Install gapps - Google Apps (20110613)
8. Since no data wipe no need to restore backup if CM7.1 working fine..

Change baseband doesn't require data wipe...

Do I miss something?
*
Please wait! I am now uploading the AMSS (baseband) file, I5503DXJP8 for you.

Ok, the link for the AMSS for JP8 is - http://www.multiupload.com/UTQI9KIW8L

Just flash it with ODIN and done. No need to perform anything else. You can skip all those steps.
After you have flashed it, can you please provide feedback how is this baseband doing?

if flashing hotfix only, should I reinstall gapps?

Just flash the hotfix only. No need to perform data wipe or reinstall gapps.

Did you extract it? DON'T extract it. Flash it under one package with odin.

The file itself already TAR file.. Not zip file... so after download i directly flash through odin without extracting the original file..

Sorry, it's my mistake. I compiled it together with 0307684001312695647 folder. Now recompiling again. Will upload when it's completed.

(from my sis post at MadTeam Forum)

After using v.1.0 + hotfix 1 for approx. one day plus, I experienced a lot of FCs and at times laggy.

I performed data wipe/factory reset with CWM, then install the whole package again in sequence, i.e. v.1.0 , hotfix 1 , and gapps.
The FCs and lags seemed to have went for a holiday! tongue.gif tongue.gif . Now it's smooth and no more lags and FCs. smile.gif wink.gif

Edit : Btw, wifi signal (after installing hotfix1) was weak. After I have done the above, it's strong again, full bar with wifi-router on groundfloor and phone on the 1st floor. (Tested with going online and downloading a file and it's fast.) smile.gif smile.gif

EDIT : Did you flash to JP8 baseband?

if the md5 is missing in this AMSS file, and it is also extracted from the full package, i am not really sure if the full package is okay or not.

I also experiencing the same problem. how about the backup management, using CWM or install fresh one by one or use titanium?
*
Method 1 :

1. backup your present rom, settings, apps using CWM.
2. copy your personal stuffs, like pictures, files, videos, music, etc. to a folder in your computer.

Method 2 :

Use titanium.

But my opinion is that use both methods just in case either one fails to restore.

Bro,

1)anyone know where to download usb driver for cm7? cause i need to copy file from pc to sd card.

2)how to flash back to official froyo 2.2, cause last time i failed to flash back, it stuck at something like dos mod and cant load into froyo ( blank screen after press reboot from that dos mod).

Thanks in advance. smile.gif
*
1. just connect your phone to kies (though CM doesn't support kies) and you can download the drivers from there. Actually there is no usb driver for CM. It is just drivers for your phone. So loading drivers from kies doesn't concern what roms you are using, as long as your phone is samsung.

2. use odin to flash back.

transition from opened app to home screen, even with zeam launcher, a bit lag, +- 3s, quite annoying.
any solution?

fresh install to CM7.1 v1.0 hf1, swap off. smartass, 245 - 710 MHz.

I use Go Launcher Ex and set at >Advanced Settings > Tick > Prevent force close. ---> No lags.

mine is okay. this problem is not related to baseband as baseband affects only the data/line in relation to the mobile service providers and GPS.

I think this happen since I restore it from titanium. clear data will fix the issue.

24hours since fresh install CM7.1 v1.0 hf1 runs well smooth n still no fc.

So far, the solution is either to perform data wipe and re-do a fresh installation of the rom

and another method is

modifying the "preferred_network_mode" to value 0. Read here (comment no. 97 & 99) http://code.google.com/p/cyanogenmod/issues/detail?id=2928

d best Q&A session = lowyat v4  rclxm9.gif

no complain with cm7 v09+hf6..
will try newer ver  smile.gif

currently in jp6 but gps locking same (5min++) as before (froyo/dashblck).. any idea y??
*
1. Before you install newer CM versions, it is advisable to back up your present rom with CWM. Actually when you do this (backup with CWM) it virtually back up everything.... your rom, settings like launchers, personalizations, applications..etc.

Just in case if anything goes wrong in newer versions, you can always restore back.

2. If you want GPS to lock faster, use it frequently (at least once a week) as when you are using it, your phone automatically updates with satellites.

hi guys, long time didn't come here ...was quite busy..
can anyone tell me what's the latest stable custom firmware for now? I am still using 2.0.9.1.
Planning to flash new firmware smile.gif
*i would prefer those beginner friendly flashing as i have near to zero knowledge on flashing smile.gif
thanks in advance

Watch this tutorial : http://youtu.be/3Z8AzbTKHjw

CM v.1.0 + hotfix1 - Stable, reliable, fast and smooth.

Guide/Procedure :

Files Required :

1. CWM v.4 tar. (latest) link/instructions : http://www.madteam.co/forum/development/%2...cret-projectgt/

2. CM v.1.0 , hotfix1 and Google Apps (20110613).
http://www.madteam.co/forum/development/%2...alaxy5%27-port/
IMPORTANT : These 3 files must be install in sequence.

------------------------------

1. Download CWM v.4 tar.
2. Flash it with ODIN.
3. During the flashing, CWM will boot up in your phone. Select data wipe/factory reset. (make sure you have already backed up your stuffs).
4. Reboot.
5. Copy the three files (Item No.2 above) to your sdcard.
6. Boot up CWM by pressing the OFF (calls off) button, select reboot > recovery. CWM will boot up.
7. Select (from CWM) > install from zip in sdcard.
8. Install the three files in sequence.
9. Reboot. (Data wipe not require)
10. Done.

NOTE :

1. AFTER YOU HAVE COMPLETED INSTALLING, DO NOT USE TITANIUM BACKUP TO RESTORE BACK YOUR DATA/APPS..etc. AS IT WILL GIVE YOU PROBLEMS WITH FORCE CLOSURES AND/OR PROBLEM WITH GOOGLE APPS.

2. INSTALL YOUR APPS BACK ONE BY ONE (THOUGH THIS MAY BE TROUBLESOME, BUT IT'S THE ONLY WAY).

3. If you need more Google Apps, you can download from here :
http://android.modaco.com/topic/335141-add...pps-2011-07-29/

a. But don't use the full package as our G5 does not have enough memory to store the full package apps and hence the installation will be corrupted (though you still will be able to install it).

b. Select individual apps and install them one by one.

c. It's advisable not to install those Google Apps which you are not using in order to free some memory of your phone.

Enjoy! tongue.gif tongue.gif

means i have to reformat my 2nd partition to ext4 in order to use mad2sd? btw, the link given above for cm7 download, i get bad request..the server down?
as for the wondershare mobilego, it's a pc apps right? same function as kies?
*
Sorry, I think the something is wrong with the link.

Here are the working links :

1. CWM :
http://www.madteam.co/forum/development/%2...cret-projectgt/

2. CM7.1 :
http://www.madteam.co/forum/development/%2...alaxy5%27-port/

Before you install the new rom version :

1. Advisable to backup your stuffs.... like your personal files, videos, musics, pictures, contacts, sms messages.

2. Once you have installed, you'll find that CWM is easier and better to use. And it is also advisable to backup your roms, apps, personalizations like launchers, settings, wallpapers, and contacts, sms messages with CWM.

Just a few simple clicks with CWM will backup all your stuffs. And you can restore them back exactly as when you did your backup.

Enjoy!
