greeting all,

Purchased this pair of ram few days back, bought it outta curiosity as I never tried Aeneon ram before. Didn't put high hope since it's rated CL 11 @ 1600MHz, very loose to be honest. sweat.gif

Here are some shots on the ram:

On 1st glance, the black heat spreader is quite a looker to me, not bad for a pair of value ram. nod.gif
user posted image

From here, we can clearly see the heat spreader doesn't make proper contact with the chips. grumble.gif
user posted image

Upper part of the heat spreader doesn't really provide sufficient space for ventilation (which is good when we start pushing the ram). Area of improvement for Winova perhaps... Hmmmm... unsure.gif

Okie, enough of talking I guess, I will let the screen shots do the talking. Below are the details of my poor test bed:

AMD X3 445 3.1GHz @ X4 B45
Asus M4A88TD-V EVO /USB3
Asus 5770 CuCore @ X-Fire
Seasonic X850

First test, 1600 @ 7-7-7-21-28 with 1.56v, not bad considering the stock timing is @ 11-11-11-30-41 with 1.5v...

user posted image

2nd test, 1800 @ 8-8-8-24-32, still with 1.56v... quite decent if u ask me...

user posted image

Eventhou bein able to do 1800 @ 8-8-8-24-32 can be considered as pretty OK, but i felt that these sticks have something more to offer, hence, timing was tightened a 'lil... Here's 1800 @ 7-8-7-22-29 with 1.65v. Voltage is no longer low enough for low voltage setup but still OK to my book.

user posted image

Final attempt, 1900 @ 7-8-7-22-29 with 1.755v. I was kinda surprised this is doable coz i remember back then (when i was using Geil Ultra 2133 CL9, Team Dark LV 1600 CL7 & 2000 CL9 > all using Elpida BBSE chip from what i read) I hit the wall at 1840MHz with same timing.

user posted image

For those who would like to run their stick with rather high frequency at moderate voltage, these sticks can do 1900 @ 8-9-8 with 1.59v.

user posted image
*pardon my lazyness for not completing the whole 1 hour test, i was kinda exhausted already... yawn.gif

I firmly believe they sticks can offer better mileage under Thuban or Intel platforms, but unfortunately, a poor Propus is what I have for the moment. doh.gif

Some might ask what chips are being used on these modules, I cant really pin point exact name but judging from the capability, they behave quite close to Elpida BBSE which already EOL. One thing for sure they're from Elpida (since the chip manufacturer is Elpida). tongue.gif

Here are some thoughts on these decent sticks:

Pro:
  1. Affordable price
  2. Decent mileage
  3. Low voltage & decent timing on stock frequency
Con:
  1. Heatspreader not making proper contact
  2. Design of heatspreader can be better
  3. Voltage needed for high frequency w/ rather tight timing is slightly high
Last but not least, thanks for reading. icon_rolleyes.gif

these sticks are sellin @ $7x per pair here, slightly higher than kvr 1333 cl9 @ $27~30 per stick. smile.gif

lol... i was inspired, but d 1st time i saw someone did this was few years back, d grand guru of oc - sir bwan... wink.gif

not yet find d courage to pry off d heatspreader... laugh.gif

Naise review bro, i rike!!! Any chance of synthetic benchies like Sisoft sandra to see any difference between those speed?? hmm.gif
Haihhhh u always get those unusual but good rams, me & my cipetet hands doh.gif laugh.gif
*
bro, it's kinda hard to show as i have a locked chip. be chips have more combo to show diff ram freq @ almost same cpu clock & imc freq. possible to throw me any be chip? brows.gif

well, u need more luck i guess, they say mandi bunga can buang suey... tongue.gif
QUOTE(ne0cz @ Mar 14 2011, 09:58 AM)
memtest RAM need how long? My RAM dunno is cannot overclock or my mobo cannot take it. 1600...cannot even 1650 at 1.65V and 9-10-9-27 or even looser... doh.gif
*
my practice is about 5 rounds of test #5 for quickie, bout 20 rounds for prime stable setup. voltage wise it really depends on chip... i5 should be able to clock ram decently... can't really comment much is i'm a intel idiot... sweat.gif

Nice test.
I got 1 winova stick 4gb with aeneon heatsink.
But it cant go beyond 1600mhz. Although in bios state 1800mhz, in window show the ram speed 1400Mhz.
*
for sticks w/ elpida chip, trfc must be loosen to at leat 160ns or higher... wink.gif

Thanks, my ram can go beyond 1800mhz.
But the cpu speed drop from 3.4g to 3.08g.
Is it because the limit or my processor, X2 250?
My mobo MSI 880GM E-41
*
no, propus/deneb/regor max out around 1.9k, which is normal due to architecture imo. if u want higher, thuban is d only way... wink.gif

QUOTE(momokabuto @ Mar 17 2011, 03:40 PM)
Haha, bro khoo, bcoz you willing  icon_question.gif  me do some small reviews, so I give u 7 days $$ back guarantee.  notworthy.gif
and bro Louis, thanks for you effort in this reviews and sorry my 8gb kit sold out, if not I can give u to try my ram.  notworthy.gif

i gotta thank u for that bro, else this ram will go unnoticed, it deserves better. u should thank sir louis, he's d one unlocked d potential of d ram... 2.2k is no joke considerin d price & on amd platform... thumbup.gif notworthy.gif

if thats the case...that would be nice....
but 1900 c7 that bro ah_khoo perform is at 1.75v...
kinda dangerous though... sweat.gif
need to wait for the demo on intel platform 1st...hehe
*
i wont consider 1.75v is dangerous for amd. if u think it's high, most ddr3 in earlier days are rated @ 1.8v (mind u, that's only 1600MHz). but for i platforms, yeah, 1.75v mite be a 'lil too high... smile.gif

very nice review bro ah khoo and bro louis... does the 4gb per stick variant performs as well as this one?
*
sir louis did all d hard works, mine barely considered good... sweat.gif

tested 2 * 4GB for a day, 1600 @ 7-7-7 w/ 1.62v, 1800 @ 8-8-8 w/ 1.65v if i'm not mistaken... pretty sweet for 8gb setup... smile.gif
