just got a return call from Maxis customer service. apparently some of the centers are freezing the sale of N8 due to higher return rate (due to phone faulty) i.e. up to 40%. any truth in this? or is this just another gimmick to push the sale of newer E7?

QUOTE(botakbin @ Mar 31 2011, 11:04 PM) it is quite possible. we didnt reli see any n8 having very serious problems recently. And the rate of 40% is just too high. thanks. me, i just thought that it's a marketing gimmick (especially the 40% part) to push the E7 sale. but then again, i have fallen in love with N8 so denial mode surely being turned on when hearing that news |

after done with the super basic setting i.e. changing the date and time and also re-naming the phone to my preferred name, what else should i do and how should i do it? trying to play around with the GPS map but then scared will use up a lot of data (yes, i am a noob in this thing) so end up exiting it when it manage to locate my position..hahaha
tried the WLAN and manage to connect to my home network, but when i tried to browse the net the connection change to Maxis 3G. surely some setting i didn't do right? |

QUOTE(stimix @ Apr 5 2011, 07:45 AM) Have you goto ovimaps update & download M'sia maps? thanks, haven't do that for the GPS as now at hometown and no time to play around with the phone. so far just playing with the camera and setting up OVI account and FB accessIf you Downloaded, the charges of acquiring GPS is only RM0.10 per session. wth AGPS on & FOC if you switch off AGPS |

QUOTE(onghy @ Apr 6 2011, 09:57 PM) QUOTE(cloud8318 @ Apr 6 2011, 10:01 PM) thanks. will get the update tomorrow once i back in KL. 1 more question, i can get it via wifi right i.e. no need to use my limited data plan over Maxis 3G? managed to connect to the wireless internet connection previously, however when i started using the browser it started to connect to Maxis 3G connection. this happened while i'm on the wireless setting. is this the norm or it shouldn't be like that? |

QUOTE(cloud8318 @ Apr 8 2011, 04:15 PM) yes, can update via wifi, but if the update file is huge, better using data for save time, if using limited data, there is another option to update, is via Ovi suite at PC/laptop thanks, and yes i am on unlimited data plan so maybe i should try updating it via the Ovi Suite at my PCif u want to connect to internet via ONLY wifi, can disable 3G: 1. setting>connectivity>network>netwok mode>GSM 2. on home screen>tap battery icon>connectivity>network>netwok mode>GSM |

my N8 keep on auto-connecting to my home wireless connection, even after i manually turn it off. any advice on how to stop this?
now that i think of it, how can i be sure that it does not auto-connect to any available 3G connection i.e. those that will cost me? tried setting the connection to GSM only but saw last night it still tried to connect to available GPRS connection This post has been edited by toshio14: Apr 10 2011, 11:35 AM |
