Hi guys.. a silver egg user reporting in icon_rolleyes.gif

Initially when i got my N-egg, I fell in love with it however i slowly got frustrated with it due to the problems below:
1) Purple Tinting Screen
After explaining to the NCC in Singapore for an hour and trying to prove there is something wrong with the screen. They finally admit there is a problem but there is no solution because all the new batch have the same problem. They will only inform me if manage to find a solution. yawn.gif

2) Mic non-functioning during a specific period
Mic not functioning every early morning till 11am. After 11am, it will work normally. shakehead.gif Manage to fix it after visiting two times in NCC.

3) Fluctuating GSM Signal
I notice the signal keeps fluctuating sometimes. Never happen to my N5800 before. BTW i only use GSM network mode. I will feedback to NCC next round whistling.gif

4) Unable to insert one of my simcard
My digi simcard keeps pushing out during insertion. However the rest of my simcard is able to insert in. Ask the NCC regarding this problem, they told me is due to the sides of the simcard yawn.gif

5) FM transmitter have distortion sound
Whenever i connect my FM transmitter to my radio, I can hear a low distortion sound especially when no songs are played. doh.gif

Anyone facing the problems i stated above? icon_question.gif

1-3 I don't know.
4) I think it's more like the problem of your sim card.
5) Slight distortion are expected but if too excessive maybe got problem with the transmitter. smile.gif
Thanks for your reply. I think i don't have other choice but to change my simcard. Well the FM transmitter distortion is not that high, but i just wana check whether u guys have the same problem as I am facing. Currently I am the only one using N-egg in my company cry.gif therefore I am not able to test it out.

When you buy your N8?  hmm.gif
Please respond in the thread at least.
I bought it on 28 Feb in Jurong East Nokia shop (Singapore).

BTW, is sklchan 6.00 mod compatible with PR1.2? because I already install the mod during PR1.1. but dont dare to upgrade to PR1.2 yet.

my N8 keep on auto-connecting to my home wireless connection, even after i manually turn it off. any advice on how to stop this?

now that i think of it, how can i be sure that it does not auto-connect to any available 3G connection i.e. those that will cost me? tried setting the connection to GSM only but saw last night it still tried to connect to available GPRS connection

You can try these methods below:

1. Switch off the 'Show WLAN availability' and 'scanning for networks' which searches WLAN frequently.

Menu > Settings > Connectivity > WLAN > press Options > Settings > Show WLAN availability > Never

Menu > Settings > Connectivity > Settings

Switch to WLAN > Manual
Data use in home network > Always ask
Data use when roaming > Always ask

2. Disable the application's WLAN connectivity from connecting automatically.

Menu > Settings > Application manager > Installed apps

Press on EVERY application and HOLD > Choose 'Suite settings' (If available) > Network Connection > Ask when needed.

3. Switch off the online widgets on the N8 home screen.

Home Screen > press Options > Widget to Offline mode.

Then restart the N8.

4. Set the retrieval frequency of Mail feature.

Menu > Applications > Mail (You might have moved it) > Settings > Press on your Email > Synchronization > Retrieval frequency > Choose anything except Soonest.

Note: Do the same steps for every email you have.

Note: If you choose Soonest, your N8 will need to stay connected all the time to get your mail Updates as soon as possible,
which will require your WLAN to be always connected.
