I've done some research...it seems that Turbo engine actually SAVES fuel rather than drinks more fuel. And there seems to be a trend to turbocharged smaller engines to get higher output. How pratical is the result i dunno lar.

in fact true is why manufacturer goes downsizing in engine is like this.
example F10 M5 compare to E60 M5
4.4L v8 twin turbo compare to 5.0L V10 NA
at least 555hp vs 507hp
manufacturer claim V8TT reduce 25% CO2 emissions, less fuel consumption and higher power & torque output compare to V10NA.
except this, is because v8 production cost is cheaper and easier than v10.
but if 1.6L NA vs 1.6L turbo.
for sure 1.6L turbo is the one more fuel consumption.
