Fuel consumption depends on how heavy footed you are and where you do you normally drive (highway or city). The FC in my opinion is not the lowest nor the highest, I would rate it as moderate.

virtual gears in CVT, you can't feel it...smooth as silk but you will notice rpm drops when "gears" are changing...if not mistaken 1.8 CVT has 6 virtual
gears also..for 2.0 is confirmed 6 gears..

With 2.0 CVT, you get the best of both worlds, spirited drive or smooth comfortable drive with ample torque when necessary. Plus all other accessories & external kits, its well worth the few extra Ks.

why don't you buy both cars (lancer & inspira) and dismantle their engines to do a postmortem, scientific analysis,just to satisfy your curiosity?
