I disagree. I think Rooney simply doesn't have the positional discipline to defend properly in the central midfield position. Anderson tries hard, but doesn't position himself well enough that results in the opposition playing around him instead. Not just that. Both of them take too many risks with the ball. We would have a horrible time with possession. One thing I have noticed though, is that both know how to switch flanks in the middle of the game, which is promising.
