Hello, i need help.

if i were to take Diploma In Architectural Technology in Limkokwing, will i be able to continue my degree in architecture in IPTAs such as UTM, UITM, UM?

what are the disadvantages of taking diploma that is not certified by Perbadanan Arkitek Malaysia?

1st of all, PAM have no authority in certifying, recognising or accrediting any schools or qualifications. only Lembaga Arkitek Malaysia does.

2ndly, diplomas do not require accreditation from LAM. only degrees and masters do.

technically, yes, u are able to continue to an accredited school. however, most IPTS diplomas are considered "lower" than polytechnic diplomas, they find it a bit tougher to secure a place compared to the polys. that's the only reason why u dont see many diploma leavers from IPTS in IPTAs.

ohyeah sorry, its supposed to be LAM... thanks for the help

What about if i were to take Diploma in Quantity Surveying or Civil Engineering in IPTA, will it be possible if i go for degree in architecture in IPTA ?

And how good is Diploma in Architecture in politeknik? will the chances for me to continue degree in IPTA equal to asasi from other IPTAs? because i heard undergraduates from polys have a hard time finding a place for degree in IPTAs

i recommend u to take some time reading the 1st post in this thread. most of the information u require are already there.

to answer ur questions more specifically, yes, QS and civil diploma can be used to apply for architecture in IPTAs, but highly likely u'll start in 1st year again (with some credit transfers still).

politeknik diploma holders do not compete with asasi, STPM, or matriculation leavers.

actually i've read your posts alot. since version 1 if im not mistaken. my questions are more like reconfirmations, because trust me, i've done alot of asking, and have been given alot of confusing and different answers.

Hello,

so i've got accepted by uitm and i'm going to continue my studies in Sarjana Muda Sains Senibina. The intake is on this september and the duration of studies is 4 years.

since you said LAM has a new ruling, does this mean by the time i graduate, i'm gonna have to sit for Part 1 exam independently?

Ive been wondering, why do most part 2 architects, stay as part 2 architects? Is it because most of them fail the part 3 exam or are they just content with being a part 2 architect? Do u happen to know the rate of graduate architects in malaysia actually sitting for the part 3 exam?

And do u mind if i share the 'what happens during a crit session' image u made? I wish to share it with my peers xD

Hello mr azarimy

Since UK universities arent so picky about CGPA when it comes to enrolling new students for MArch programmes, how about local scholarships ? (MARA, JPA, etc)

Im in my 4th out of 8 semesters in uitm n so far my cgpa is only abit above the 3.00 mark. So my case is i wish to pursue my part 2 overseas preferably UK, only if i am able to acquire a scholarship.

Do u have any ideas on how likely is it for me to obtain a scholarship if i am only able to graduate with this kind of result? I know im only in my second year but still, i have my doubts.

However there is also this latest news i got which is LAM's new ruling on overseas accreditation which states that any enrolment to overseas universities after Dec 2017 will not be accredited. Eventhough if im able to graduate on time (around July 2017) i still wont be able to enrol before Dec 2017 since there is that compulsory 6 months working experience right? If that truly is the case then i'd have no chance to study in the UK directly after my 6 months in the industry at all.

So any rough ideas on how long would it take for UK universities to apply for LAM accreditation n how long would the process take ?

Thank you for your time mr Azarimy

Hello mr azari.

Ive been a fan of your thread since my spm days. Now this coming september 2016 i'll be in my final year for BSc architecture (part I) UiTM Seri Iskandar. Firstly, i wanna thank u so much for dedicating this thread for those who want to dedicate their life to a life of torture.

As u mentioned, Part 1 graduates must go through a compulsory 6 months period of working experience in an architectural firm to further pursue Part 2. Say i end my final year in July 2017, then i start working in the industry in August 2017, so 6 months including August 2017 till end of January 2018;

is it possible for me to enrol for Master course (Part II) in any public uni for the March 2018 intake ?

Also, what if i start working in September 2017 and 6 months after that would be February 2018, would it still be possible?

Ive heard that like it or not Part 1 graduates have to wait atleast 1 year because they wouldnt make it in time to enrol for a March intake. This is due to graduates having to wait for their universities to issue out their transcripts(?) or something like that which would require alot of waiting. Or was it because the application for the March intake would be closed before theyve finish their 6 months working in the industry? Im not sure but i know its something technical.

As u can see, i dont feel like i wanna wait for 1 year to pursue my Part II unless there isnt any other choice. Can u confirm this?

Also, i heard from a friend of mine which he said one of the staff in the firm hes working for only worked for 6 months then immediately enrolled for Part II course in UiTM Shah Alam. This enhances the confusion in my head

taylor's is already well established, while UTAR is one of the fastest rising IPTS for architecture. u cant go wrong with either of the two.

Mr. Azari,

I am a Part 1 graduate from UiTM Seri Iskandar and intend to pursue my Part 2 studies in Malaysia this upcoming September 2018.

I'm aware that the choices for universities offering accredited Part 2 programmes here are limited.

Therefore, do you have any knowledge if there are any universities here regardless IPTA or IPTS that is almost guaranteed accreditation secure enough for me to enrol in so i can graduate with an accredited Part 2 by the year 2020? Or that is not how things work?

You mean you want to enroll into an unaccredited programmes that will most likely secure its accreditation by the time you graduate?

Well, the word GUARANTEE is a very dangerous one. There's so many things that could happen during the accreditation process. If you want to give it a go, then I recommend trying for UKM, UPM, USM and UIAM. These IPTAs are currently running programmes that are due for accreditation in the next 2 years. Alternatively, go for IPTS like IUKL, LUCT and UCSI, although I'm not sure if they're scheduled for the accreditation visit soon. Or go for UTM-Pesisir programme, which is the only part-time architectural programme in Malaysia.

Yes, to your question.

Im not sure how the procedure by LAM is, but probably there are some universities that have 'passed' the the accreditation process but due to formalities or basic procedure that the accreditation has not officially been awarded yet? Hence, those universities are still not listed as accredited programmes in your thread or on LAM's website.

Are you suggesting that UKM, UPM, USM n UIAM are towards accredited status ?

Hi Mr. Azari,

I completed and submitted my online application for Master of Architecture in UTM for this September intake. It has been submitted early this May. A week later the status says the application has been evaluated by SRAD n being sent to the faculty. As of now (2 weeks later) the status still hasnt changed n im starting to get nervous hehe.

My question is, when is UTM's call for interview and how can i know if im not being called for it?
