Request - to have a Section or Sub-section for Credit, Debit, Charge and Merchant Cards

We have a pinned thread at Finance Section for credit card and you can observe that we are already in V15 and the view counts is pretty high.

Reason for request:

1) We can discuss more in detail on a specific card like in Phone Section where there's a thread for each phone or like Sub-Section for Stock.

2) Makes it more convenient for members to access information already posted that is directly relevant to his/her questions/interest.

3) Presently, threads are scattered and we have many i.e. Credit Cards, Debit Cards, Amex, Balance Transfer and within the thread many things are discussed resulting in many posts thus wasting members' time reading post not relating to his/her need.

Actually you can go read the first post of the thread and you can see there are so many items relating to Credit Cards. And if you go read Debit card thread, same thing.

Like mentioned to them, I agree to this suggestion.
At least the main section would be more towards Investment, Financial Planning and Business discussion.

Hmm, instead of just for Cards, why not Personal Finance?

Because card's seems to have more attention and more variants.
Personal finance still remains in the main section with a specific pinned topic or a more personalized topic if it's more into details. Thus insurance, investments, business starts-up I still suggest to remain in main section

I think besides agreeing, I would suggest we put stronger points on "why" for the admin to consider.

I agree on this suggestion. With the introduction of many card varieties from different merchants and stuffs like points, cash rebates, etc nowadays, it will definitely benefit us. As pointed out above, the post counts are increasing rapidly and things get jumbled up pretty fast. Many regulars are ever willing to give useful advices and comments, thus I believe it will be more organized than current setup

While credit card is the main topic but there are a lot of related sub-topics under it. For instance, Balance Transfer, OCBC Merchants 1%, 5%, CC GST which has been repeatedly asked in the thread but since the thread is so large (and many readers are lazy to traverse) the information quickly get lost.

A well defined sub-thread will be useful to categorize the information in details and readers getting what they want quickly.

Oh yes ... I'd prefer debit cards not to be bundled in. Although many people can't tell the difference between credit card and debit card!

Agree !!! we need a subssection

a section to cover credit, debit and charge cards will be nice

and also very difficult to search nonetheless (need very specific keywords)

However, as this is a dedicated subforum for credit cards and merchant cards, there is no need for a 'general discussion' thread and you may open threads to discuss each specific topic.

If you would like to assist in moderating the new subforum, please let goldfries or me know.

i understand the section is created but let us know how we could improve the name.

currently it's Credit and Debit card, I understand the members suggested the section to over Charge and Merchant cards.

is there a general name for these cards?

1. Can you like change the present section name Credit cards and debit card to like you mentioned Credit Cards and Debit Cards.

2. I would think that we should also discuss on reward cards like Bonus Link, JJ cards, Esso Smiles Card, 1U card as with these cards we do get something back in return. So I would suggest if all agree to revise the Section title to Credit, Debit, Charge and Reward Cards. Initially I mentioned Merchant but i guess Reward card more appropriate.

3. Plastic card no lah, then AMEX Black card made from Titanium cannot be discussed

I second this as well! I park all kinds of reward/discount cards with my fiancée: Eu Yan Sang, Kim Gary, Yong Sheng Confectionery, ONECARD, Popular, Isetan, Tangs, Gardens Club etc - even got a cardholder for it all. Me no brand loyal wan
