What is Real Soundproof:
Soundproofing, just a general term for the meaning to reduce noise for a more harmonic environment. Most people will go to a shop and asking to soundproof their car in the general term and most installer will only know 1 to 2 type of products to help in their business. So now let's study the term soundproofing in details...

Basically soundproofing can be categorize in 3 major works...which is Dampening, Insulation and Absorption.

Dampening will use material with mass loaded ingredient to reduce panel vibration by transferring sonic energy to heat energy.

Insulation will use material with Sonic energy blocking ingredient to prevent noise going through the material itself by reflecting the noise.

Absorption will use material with sonic absorption ingredient to convert noise energy to other energy form (heat and vibration) and keep the noise level lower than the source.

Theoretically a good soundproof will have all 3 type of material included to form a series of sonic energy conversion and rejection. New formulae for road noise reduction. Now come with prove, not only talks.

Modern car's road noise issues are most probably being settled with this new formulae, cost effective and fast delivery times. A significant noise reduction of 3.8db on a microphone that measured low frequency range for a car that are cruising at 100km/h. Immediate reduction on noise after applied.

Frequency range tested when the car is cruising is from 25 to 200hz as shown in graph. After treatment, the 160hz and 200hz frequency are missing. This means the noise from this frequency range are dropped to a level that cant be shown on the graph. while anything from 63 to 160hz had been significantly dropped to a much lower level in the graph shown.

Additional benefit are:
* slightly lower engine noise,
* no pedal / leg area vibrations
* more comfortable conversations between passengers

This test is done on a Toyota Vios 04 with only front floor treated, cruising on 100KM/h on Kesas highway together with owners and 2 more customers.

13 step to success soundproofing process:

Analyse the car noise level and frequency spike, discuss with customer about the problems and solutions.
All panels and interior stripped and cleaned.
All exterior parts that need to be use stripped and cleaned.
Start of first layer of dampening and some extra caution on strategic parts.
Start of second layer of either insulation or absorption material depend on area of treatment.
Start of third layer of either insulation or absorption material depend on area of treatment.
External soundproofing begin dampened or insulate or absorb depend on treatment area.
Checking of any area of treatment for perfections.
Fitting all the interior panels in reverse orders.
Fitting all the exterior panels in reverse orders.
Final checking for parts and panels fitting.

Another brand new inspira doing full car soundproofing using Silent Coat products

Let's see how much we can remove easily..The bigger the piece, means the easier it get to peel off.


Front hood cover by a black mat for heat proof purpose, we dampened the front hood with minimal dampening material to reduce the weight.


Second on the hood, we use Silent Coat buffler to cover the whole engine area so the noise from engine will be absorbed. High pitch engine noise are reduce dramatically after this layer...


Roof of inspira only comes with 2 pcs of cloth type absorbing material..To have a pleasant drive, we dampened the whole roof with extra structure to dissipate the resonance frequency from the roof panel. Lastly, we cover it with another 2 layer of insulation and absorption material to prevent echo and better acoustic performance. You can talk easily with other passengers after this is done. It will make your car acoustic become better.


Mid to rear floor are using the same method, divide into small area and focus on the important structure that might bring noise in.


Debatable area to do soundproofing. Some people say this part are useless, some say it works....So let's figure out after the result comes in.


Front door after dampening...To reduce the weight, we do not cover all the metal inside the door...Because some parts are not necessary for example the metal bar...


This is the result of our soundproofing done on this inspira. You should expect immediate acoustic difference when you sit inside the car. After the engine is started, you should experience a smoother engine revving noise. Cruising on the road will experience a more better noise control and conversations will be clearer and you can talk with less energy with the passengers.

Finally, I sent my car for dampening work that I have been long for. Some preliminary reviews to share with all ICE ethusiasts.

1. Tire noise is very significantly suppressed though not 100% eliminated. It is close to 70-80% of elimination.

2. The noise from external environment is very much reduced, the stereo has to be muted and the noise can then be observed to come from glass panels near driver and all passenger at the rear. Doors and trunk remain solid, intact and quiet.

3. The wind vibration noise especially a fast vehicles passing by in either opposite or same way is barely noticeable. A bit scary if suddenly a fast car overtakes you as the sound is not noticeable.

4. The noise inside the car becomes very clear; side effect of blocking external noise. The items in the compartment vibrate during the drive can be easily heard. However, this has created a really conducive ambient for ICE.

5. Once the volume for my HU is tuned to moderate level (level 10 of my pioneer player), external noise is no longer in the play for the entire driving. You could hardly hear anything except your own nice music.

6. Driving in the range of 100 km/hr is extremely comfy with minimum air noise / vibration.

Overall, the interior of the car is isolated well with external noise, sound and any form of noise vibration.The STP products work well and not forgetting the patience and nice workmanship offered by Howie (EA Auto).

For those ICE lovers who have plan to dampen and sound proof your cars, please do not hesitate to try on this.

Hi bro, can you give best quotation for my car's setup? I am currently riding Nissan Sentra N14 year 2004. I've found my car's noise insulation is not that good already. Reving engine gets noisier now. It's the same prob as other Sentra user as well? I not sure how they call it, but I know is 3 layers..1st is on the door metal. 2nd on the inner door metal and 3rd will be the plastic panel. My objective is not about ice..I just want to make my car sound more quite and also not to make my car super "heavy". Can help?
