First of all i wud like to thank all members in this forum for such a great informative discussion
this is my first android, even my first so called 'smartphone' and a proud ace

Successfully rooted wit SOC1.7 (after some extensive reading) for the mean time just to move apps around wit ap2sd+move2sd enabler. one thing i've notice, need to reboot the phone after rooting for it to take effect.

i've a couple of questions as a noob:
1. wat app u guys think got to have after rooting?
2. which prolauncher proved to be working wit ace?

Phone info:
baseband - s5830dxk9
kernel - 2.6.32.9-perfroot@se-s604 #1
build - froyo.dxka9

make sure u r @ the page where u can see notifications bar @ d bottom. if not click d fb logo on top.
then tap ur phone menu softbutton (left by the home button). you'll see logout option there.

this is how i do it wit mylittle android b4 launcherpro (tho am using handcent sms):

- get into ur app drawer
- tap on menu softkey
- tap edit (all ur apps icon including on ur dock will wobble wit minus sign on it)
- tap hold ur stock sms icon and drag into ur app drawer
- find ur gosms icon tap hold and drag into ur dock

same goes to rearrange or replacing apps on ur dock. hope u get the idea.

Here's what i've done to mylittle android after rooting wit soc 1.7, launcherpro+home switcher for froyo installed, apps organizer installed and beautiful widget installed. And of course with some custom wallpapers and icon downloaded. i used multiple screen.

lock screen - nothing special


home screen - beautiful widget clock/weather


2nd screen. launcherpro calendar widget


3rd screen. apps organizer apps group shortcuts - internet, multimedia, tools, games.

yes. enjoying it since installed. the one i've got v1.04.

im no expert in this matter as im a noob myself. but if u cud give some more detail on how it actually happened it might give others who know what to do to help. for example, what did u used to root ur phone and what actually happened when you do the rooting process. the more information u give, more likely you gonna get the help you need.

anybody having trouble updating their kies to 2.0? mine stuck after downloading something about "installation failed to initialize". tried to update couple of time, even reinstall kies from cd. i tried to install kies 2.0 which i downloaded from samsung page, but it says "failed to extract installation file into ...". also tried couple of time by redownload the installer.

need help. itchy to upgrade my firmware


one more thing guys. if i want to upgrade my sdcard. do i need to format it wit any particular file system or just use it right away if i want to copy all my old data frm the old sdcard.

old_sdcard->copy all to pc
newsdcard format in phone
new_sdcard<-copy all frm pc

a blue bty icon wit 100% will popup on the left of ur status bar telling u to unplug ur charger.

kies succesfully installed. finally. but now kies lost connection to my ace right after backup when i run the firmware update.

anybody?
