QUOTE(Music Mania @ Mar 11 2011, 12:42 AM)
Highly doubt that. I don't think anyone would ever buy a phone that used to be 250 ringgit cheaper from the RRP. With 1250, add 50 more and I got myself an Acer Liquid Metal, which is miles better.
*
Who sold this phone for RM749 last time?

QUOTE(yuan415 @ Mar 11 2011, 09:23 AM)
i saw it at a shop here in melaka only selling rm890, i think is the cheapest ever compare to garage sales and any kl prices..its SME set and 1 year warranty..btw i still decide to buy at SenQ at RM999 but 3 YEARS WARRANTY drool.gif ...very worth...
*
Does this mean 1st year warranty is by SME, then next 2 years by SenQ? They got technicians to repair, or they send back to SME and they bear the repair cost? This is very important... you don't want some young ciku technicians at SenQ experimenting with your faulty phone...

2nd! i want to know the battery life as well..
if i just left it there for the whole day except from a few sms, how long will the battery last?

has anyone played angry bird on Ace? does it lag?
i played it on my friend's optimus one and it lags terribly.. can't even play.
*
Only SMS? Probably last you 3 days or more. Me with wifi during night, 3G during day, an hour of games, play around with apps, 50% brightness, some widgets - 1.5 days.

Angry Bird lags a little bit in levels with a lot of stuff... get the ad-free version if you can, heard it's even faster.

So many Indians commenting in GSMArena. The only thing I can say to that Indian fella - read the specs first la. Galaxy i9003 is like RM700 more ok?

can this sexy use papago  ?
*
Can, Papago X5. Good performance.

QUOTE(anakrantau @ Mar 11 2011, 04:39 PM)
Then I moved to HTC Desire > Galaxy S > Desire HD > Optimus 1 > Ace..
I am still using Desire HD (give to wife) and my Ace too.

Ace is enough for my android smartphone needs. I'm use it to get my email alert from gmail, light browsing while waiting or got some stuff to checking online, gps/google map to search places, simple photo shoot - consider a good 5MP snapper with flash, tethering to my lappy. I have move all the heavy task to my 11" lappy instead of my phone. Get an alert from customer/clients from my phones, then find a place to get working with my lappy via wireless tethering from my ace. That's all I need smile.gif
*
Just curious, you've used current mid- and high-range Androids. Desire, Desire HD, Galaxy S and Galaxy Ace, which one gave the best experience? I know different people have different needs, so how about overall performance?

I notice ace will shutdown wifi during idle (black screen) because of its policy.

You guys can check
Settings>>Wireless and networks>>Wi-Fi settings>> Menu >> Advanced

it show 'Wi-Fi sleep policy', the default is 'When screen turns off'
so i changed to 'Never'

yesterday i try to download 300mb files(game actually hehe)..very annoying when i hv to resume download everytime i check the d/load progress.
brgds, NAP
*
I changed to 'Never' just now. After 4 hours, checked the phone, it died. Re-inserted battery, started phone, battery has dropped 40%. Maybe not suitable to put it to 'Never', or I just got unlucky biggrin.gif

regarding that, from my opinion, if u set it to never, means your wifi is connected regardless you use it or not (data transfer is alive or not)

whereas when you put when screen turns off, your wifi receiver on your phone cease to work (thus prolonging battery)

IMO, those settings does not affect your phone dieing or not =\ (just an opinion, from what i understand, cuz its the wifi policy, not the phone policy?)
*
The Ace has hardware issues where the phone dies sometimes. Since the wifi receiver is a hardware, it might have an effect. Might, of course. Who knows? It didn't work for me, but it might work for other people smile.gif

Chill la, these are just phones, price go up surely must come down. Wait a couple of weeks. If cannot tahan, buy Optimus One or top up buy Acer Liquid Metal. Optimus One seems to be more stable than Ace, with promise of Gingerbread too.

QUOTE(RRR @ Mar 12 2011, 02:21 PM)
Frankly, this is the 1st time I ever bought a newly launch phone (within 1month of launching). Never cross my mind it will run out of stock since there are loads of other models around.
No wonder all the sellers are increasing the price, till today still can't find 1 in my hometown. Consider myself lucky can get 1 this week (got in other state) at RM950 actually he told earlier only RM930.
For those still waiting hopefully all of you can manage to get very soon.
BTW, 1 of the seller in my hometown told me this batch got board problem, that's why they don't take in yet. Not sure why he is telling me that might as well just say unable to get stock  doh.gif  doh.gif
*
What board problem? @_@

I thought it was the other way around?  blink.gif

Didn't hear so many complaints about Optimus wor. Ace got Sudden Death and wifi problems, and no promise of Gingerbread. But Optimus screen is a bit plasticky lah... hehe...

@pisces1529: HAHA! Lecture class, the best time to compare phones! xD
I heard many complaints about lag issues.. there was even one where I read a comment (in some other website) that the user couldn't pick up her call cause the screen lagged heavily. After that I got more doubtful about Optimus One sad.gif

I don't mind plasticky~~ XD
As long as promise the phone can tahan without giving me major problems  tongue.gif
So now, I am torn between Optimus One and Ace. If Ace's price continue to rise and no stock. I might have to turn to Optimus  cry.gif

Oh btw, what do you mean with "Sudden Death" ?  blink.gif
*
Optimus so bad? I thought >1 million sold should be quite a solid phone. Sudden Death means the phone turns off by itself and you cannot turn it back on unless you re-insert the battery. Happens with Ace (and some say Captivate).

How desperate are you for a new phone? It's worth to wait for Ace. Faster, nicer, bigger than Optimus.

Any app that can light up the LED to use as torchlight? I've tried a few but they failed.

Btw, what data monitoring software recommended.

1. Not too consume the memory.
2. Not heavy battery usage.
Not recomment => NetCounter as it shows 80% battery usage after a night.
*
How to see how much battery the app has been using? I use Network Monitor, when I go to Battery Use I cannot see how many % of battery it has used, only can see Wifi, Phone idle, Display, etc.

QUOTE(MerzadNazmi @ Mar 14 2011, 04:28 AM)
P/S: the main diff between black n white is the back cover. Anybody know where to get white cover?
The glossy side is also different between white and black. White is bright chrome while black is gunmetal.

An update to the charger issue I reported earlier (connector missing 1 pin). SME exchanged a new one for me. But... it's exactly the same like my old charger, with 1 pin missing! So I guess this is normal for Ace chargers... very strange, LG and HTC chargers aren't like this...

I was considering these phone: defy, aria, used legend, x10 and ace.

compared to all, ace seems to be the best choice i have in term of spec and price.  unfortunately it was not easily available in Penang. if in later weeks seller increase the price to above 1k, i guess  i will be buying other phone rather than this. anyway, which senq u say got ready stock? i didn't see people using this phone why it so scarce?
*
Seems like your budget is well over 1k. Why not go for the Acer Liquid Metal? Best bang for the buck for phones around 1.3k. Aria is too overpriced, 1.4k for a 600Mhz 3.2" screen Android.

Hey, does any one know Ace support wat video file?
i wanna convert some show to my phone
*
MP4.

Actually if you use 3rd-party apps, almost all videos can be played (WMV, AVI, MKV, ASF, etc), but will most likely lag because it is not hardware supported, need to rely on the app itself to decode. I tried most videos, all lagged except MP4.

QUOTE(Isabell @ Mar 14 2011, 09:36 PM)
HELPPPPP!!!

i have no idea why but everyone that calls me is UNKNOWN..

anyone experienced this?
*
Do you have more than 1 contact with the same number? In Nokia, this will become Unknown when the number calls you.

QUOTE(karim_effendy @ Mar 14 2011, 08:14 PM)
prefer a phone which got many user and sells a lot. better compatibility and developer will able to optimise the platform. if ace got a lot of user. possibility to have new updates is high.
*
Why not try HTC Desire AP? Great community, plenty of ROMs, officially promised Gingerbread.

How much did you sell it for? I guess I will be happy with Ace because I'm not a hardcore user biggrin.gif

Errr... if it behaved like that in Nokia, it might be the same in Ace, just trying to be helpful, sorry la. Some things (like the code to view IMEI) also same in Nokia and Ace what.
