THANKS for the info mate

Mr Poorman

bet you must be the most intense user of the V . wonder if you have noticed any rising black . mine at less than 1,000 hrs haven't seen any changes yet and neither have i seen any floating black as well.

how many of you use bias lighting . the LED blue strips is just wonderful as it make the black levels measurement like .004 MLL or better if i change the gamma to -2.4 , although got to compromise on crush of shadow details .black like charcoal. so nice

D65 is too whitish for my me. blue is cool.

with all this new G and V series about to be launch soon , i could feel my hands getting really itchy and my pockets about to be burn and credits cards to be pull by the magnetic swap machine.

only if the price is reasonable and affordable . the 55'' and 65'' looks really nice in new design and better black levels

but this new models ain't gonna come cheap

here we go, a small peep taken from AVSforum

ST and GT have different processing.

GT and VT have dual power supplies and different processing board setups.

GT and VT are now confirmed to have different processing.

VT has a unique filter to 2011.

P/S

why you guys like square bottoms

i prefer the round one

agreed with AD , the True Cinema mode is THX by another name and its only suitable under control ambient lighting.its too dark for my liking for daytime

after calibration should be good but wonder if the G series has the pro modes

The P50VT20 can now be had for ~RM6k -if it is a new set,it's worth it with the bundles thrown in

i heard the new sammy 51'' D8000 is a dissapointment at least on the black level with LCE which cannot be switch off. the new st30 looks like it may be a gem for its price and class. by the first impression of the st30,the new GT ,V and VT series may look orgasmic

vincent,

The true cinema mode has the most accurate colours.

The greyscale however is not perfect. Nor is it in any mode. Its most accurate in true cinema mode. To correct the yellowish tint u would need to go into the service menu and adjust white balance to further improve.

Dynamic mode has a colour temperature of about 10K. This means that the whites are really blue tinted. Cinema (Warm) is close to 6500K, TrueCinema is closest to 6500K

BTW, the 60s was known for green tinted. The True Cinema shd not send the colour to the sixties era as its the most accurate. Anything else has a wide gamut colour that is really not close to reference. Sharpness is a mix bag. If u view only HD material, I would suggest anywhere from 0 - 20. If u watch a  lot of SD stuff, then u would need to bump up the sharpness to above 30 - 50.

There is reference and there is preference.

My comment was that if u want to bring ur display close to reference use TrueCinema, if u do not like it, its ur display, u can select whatever u feel u like.

absolutely agree with AD .i love true cinema mode the most whenever i watch hollywood movies and just set ithe contrast higher if one prefer more 'color pop' effect .
cinema mode is brighter by default and for all types of source and feed ,it is most suitable as i believe it is a all rounder

i have so often played with the modes and setting and getting really tired and finally settled for true cinema mode . gamma at 2.2 is appropriate during day watching and gamma at 2.4 really nice on controlled lighting although you will lose shadow detail but black levels is more impressive . hope panny will one day come out with more options such as with 2.3 and 2.35 gamma.

very dissapointed there are no 55" for the VT30 series and the GT30 totally dissapear. WTH panasonic malaysia

their marketing strategies sux big time as they either go for high profit margin VT30 series or look down on us malaysian by giving us low end ST30 series

I recently sold of my 50" B450 sammy plasma and bought a V20 as a replacement and the difference i could tell is like heaven and earth , although i don't know for sure if the latest plamas from sammy have make improvements . the black levels, color accuracy and reproduction plus other loads of features of the V are so impressive especially if view in controlled lighting . it make me believe if one could afford a better high end TV then go for it. to me its worth the money to buy high or higher end models as we will find other ways to waste our money anyway

i recently check out the latest i think ,43" D451 sammys and i can tell the build quality could even have drop. glad to know from AD there will be a True Cinema mode and hope the pannys low-end build quality would be better than last year.

it takes a little while to get use to True Cinema or THX mode and some may not like it at all as it is too dark for many but once got use to it , it's the best mode to watch movies under dim lights.

Is that true that Pana picture quality and performance are bad compared to Samsung series 8?  cry.gif I just bought vt20 from Perfect Living on Sunday.  cry.gif

Mr Poorman

actually, i like the 65/VT20 and still working out on the budget and other subsidized arrangements like eating roti canai for the next one year

i must admit though the 60'' GT30 or 55/VT30 is very tempting but may not be available here at all .

i am getting quite obsessed with black levels figures lately but can live with the V20 which is a very good TV by itself . i have a 42" V20 as my bedroom set and watch it under controlled lighting and is always impressed with it.

i have not seen any floating black or rising black on my V20 , absolutely love Panny V

and thats only for the 42" version . the blackk levels for the 50 to 65'' panel should be more impressive but still not expected to beat the Kuro 9 .

the VT30 is going to be very expensive but there are meant for the enthusiasts and elites.

the new VT30 from 50inch onwards is going to cost a bomb . malaysian market destined for lower spec ST series , but still , it won't be cheap .

My guess is 3D ST series should be available next month with VT30 probably in July.

the cheap X and C series PQ looks better compare to last year but build quality standard has drop a lot . every TV maker low end build quality has drop beyond recognition as competition is so stiff and congested
