its true. Samsung has improve leap and bound from Panasonic. Furthermore, Panasonic are bogged down by
rising black issue. sad.gif

Some prefer vivid color and others natural color. I find Samsung's color more vivid and Panasonic's more natural.

The samsungs have their own sets of problem. To watch 24p without pulldown (ie refeshing in multiples of 24Hz), u would need to enable Cinema Smooth, but that increases black levels quite a bit. The black levels are better on the larger panels only and there is some spatial processing that cannot be turned off, so its not as natural. The greyscales are quite similar, something is not quite right on the calibration done by the guys at the links provided as even I can calibrate the V20/VT20 with much lower DeltaE1976 values. They don't show gamma values, but I think Samsung does it slightly better.

Also for the V/VT even with the black level rises, the blacks will be better on the Panasonics. The ANSI contrasts shd make a difference.

Samsungs suffer line bleed quite a bit worse, the pannys slightly better. Both don't dither as much, so banding is present on both. Motion issues both have their issues, panny's 50Hz maybe slightly worse . Sammy sets have worse image retention.

No display is perfect, samsung has made some improvements, but there is still room.

from what i've gathered so far, the site does seem to favor everything samsungs.
so people are suggesting to take their reviews with a pinch of salt. it's somewhat biased.

but the links showed Samsung is more natural and Panasonic is over saturated, there were visible motion artifacts, flicker and judder effects as well.

I am paying with my own money so I picked what my eyes picked. I especially like the color 'red' on Panasonic.

Red on Panasonic plasma is actually dull eventhough set to dynamic. Is it good to have duller red?

there is cartoon type of red and natural red as in flower red. That is why kids like cartoon because their color is always deliberately made much more attractive. But we all know cartoon are not real or natural. Try this. Go look at real red flower and then go watch it on a Sony and you may know what i meant.

Red can be defined in the CIE chart. Both the pannys and samsungs get red decently accurate post calibration. In actual cases if anything samsungs are slightly undersaturated. However, I doubt it would be noticeable.

i was watching Panasonic Plasma and Panasonic LED. Both same source showing a truck.

On plasma, I see dark blood red (dark red) - setting is dynamic. While LED show dramatic red (setting is Cinema).

The problem is, I dunno the real red of the truck is which one. I tend to believe the real red is bright red eventhough
I might be wrong.

Here is the LED version:

Problem is, which one is real? That time is bright daylight outdoor movie.

the only way to know which is correct is to have actually seen the real truck. Only by having seen the real thing can you know which TV is displaying the color correctly. And we have no way of doing that. That is why i use human skin tone and red flower as reference because we see those everyday. IMO Sony have one of the worst red because they are so unreal to my eyes.

Why so troublesome? Some shops have connect their TV to camera that shoot specific location of their shop. Take those oppotuanity to test your skin tone lah. Compared your skin colour with the colour of your skin in the TV. wink.gif
