It looks like the 2011 models have "True Cinema" included in the entry level models as well (C series plasmas, X is higher level and I am inferring that it will have the TrueCinema mode as well)

This would mean that the colour gamut (colour points) will at last be accurate for entry level Panasonics. Also the gamma in TrueCinema mode is closer to 2.1 vs 1.8 in other modes for the entry level models.

I think this is a step forward.

The entry level plasma prices are very competitive and is a crowded place now. Samsungs and LGs entry level models which are similarly priced as the Panasonic models are now forcing Panasonic to include some form of accurate mode in its entry level models that are great in my opinion.

I saw the Samsung D490 and D550 series. I did not have a chance to play with the remote but they almost always have a Cinema mode and a decent colour gamut in the past.

I recently sold of my 50" B450 sammy plasma and bought a V20 as a replacement and the difference i could tell is like heaven and earth , although i don't know for sure if the latest plamas from sammy have make improvements . the black levels, color accuracy and reproduction plus other loads of features of the V are so impressive especially if view in controlled lighting . it make me believe if one could afford a better high end TV then go for it. to me its worth the money to buy high or higher end models as we will find other ways to waste our money anyway

i recently check out the latest i think ,43" D451 sammys and i can tell the build quality could even have drop. glad to know from AD there will be a True Cinema mode and hope the pannys low-end build quality would be better than last year.

it takes a little while to get use to True Cinema or THX mode and some may not like it at all as it is too dark for many but once got use to it , it's the best mode to watch movies under dim lights.

Small matter but re-read DannyOp's post and you will see he specifically said 50U30K for RM3,999.
*
Yea I did noticed he typed 50U30K but I'm also aware that he was referring to the Panasonic booth at Perfect Livin. So I believe he was actually talking about the clearance of the outgoing models, not the new 2011 U series.

Added on April 4, 2011, 12:14 pmWhen do u all think we'll be able to see those new 2011 models at Panasonic shops ya? Can't wait to check them out and see whether they are worth buying or not. Slurp!

After months of research and reading V1 and V2 threads, I almost given up looking for Panasonic Plasma since P50V20K out of stocks... until Joseph made an offer of TH-P50VT20K together with HT System (without 3D player and specs), i just took it right away

I recomend serious buyers to contact iamsobloodysick (Joseph) if you are interested with Panasonic Plasma as he can workaround with your budget...

now.. enjoying everybit and learning VT20 features....smile.gif

How's the quality of this VT20 as compared to the V20? I was looking for V20 too, but now considering VT20 instead since can get bug discount.

i tried asking a seller in garage sales but he said his model only comes with Ice Age, Coraline and a demo disc shocking.gif

my uncle just bought the 50" model(last week) and it came free with Avatar 3D blu ray...and to my knowledge this BD is solely to be distributed with Panasonic 3DTVs/3D Bluray players..(at least for now, anyway)

If you buy it from a Panny authorized dealer, it should come with the Avater 3D blu ray.

I know this is rather late.

I go watch side by side:

Plasma 42v20 set to Dynamic
LED 42 set to Cinema

And I find that plasma have real black while LED have chocolate color tint to it.

Conclusion: who needs a conclusion anyway since we know Plasma
is the best..lollololol

No 50V20K is a 2D model. The 3D model is 50VT20K.

For RM2.5k I would recommend you to go for TH-P42V20K. I think it should be about RM2.3k now since they are clearing all 2010 models.

i find the VT quality better to V series. I was able to witness smooth difference between V and VT series when they played some move samples.

Can you ask them to remove all those freebies like 3D glasses, 3D Bluray etc? If you do, the price differences will be even less.

If that's the case then RM6.5k is a very good deal right? With that RM1.5k extra u get a Bluray player, and 3D function. Somemore you said the picture quality is better than V20K.
