After auditioning many speakers at Adelphi Singapore since the last 2 months, I finally made up my mind to get a more uniformed sound ie. same series front and center speakers which can handle both movies and music. Among my tests were :-

1. Martin Logan - entry level from S$5500 front only
2. Paradigm Reference Studio v.4 - front and center for S$2400 (discount due to old model)
3. Triangle quartet & lyrr - front only
4. Focus Audio classic, signature and prestige (S$2-$8k front only),center from S$1k onwards
5. System Audio = S$2.4k onwards due to stock clearance

Budget wise from S$2l+ - $5k was my limitation so the focus audio prestige was out of my league (S$10k+) , and due to small apartment size triangle also was out. Martin logan entry level lost out to Triangle and had to be vacummed every week and sound was muted so that was out too. Sound wise on stereo the triangles sound very lifely and suited for wide soundstage like concert while the focus audio reference was sublime, too bad out of budget reach. System audio sounded good for the money but being Denmark speakers and 4ohm it needed a lot of power to drive it, so I crossed that out too. Paradigm was value for money but also needed a big space so I crossed that out, furthermore not as musical as the rest.

Finally my choice was the Focus Audio Signature Series ie. FS7 II & fsc 1 center for S$4070

Thanks for bro htkaki and jchong for your help in shortlisting my decision. The reason I chose the signature series was due to its detail and soundstage for music and also performed well for movies for smaller spaces. Hope to have more focus audio owners to put their views on this relatively unspoken speaker in Malaysia. Guess my next upgrade will be power amp or integrated amp to enjoy the music better...hope I am not moving too close to the more expensive hifi hobby compared to av which is more wallet friendly.. damn..

yea got it already today was the center that I took with me on my flight and tomorrow my friend is driving back with the fronts. so far so good, sound signature not much difference in my apartment compared to the showroom smile.gif

yes it is a very efficient speaker, only center is running 4 ohm and the rest is 8ohm. I specificly asked the shop owner to use av amp to test the speakers. He only used onkyo 608, so the denon 4311 should be ok. min power needed is 20w per channel, max can handle is 300w.

Congrats!

The 4311 can take 4 ohms unlike 4310. I bet that you will go the power amp route within this year.

Auditioning is one of my headaches cos not many shops have the same setup. Some more a lot of shops offer half price from their sales products which is already lower than kl prices.

Cos price double up for next upgrade. For my purpose ie ht and a little bit of music this is plenty enough.
