Hmmm, I am actually wondering all these salary stated in LYN is correct or not. I hope those who put are not Keyboard warrior who only know how to BS behind using the keyboard. It look weird to me as based on previous post, there are some only 21 years old or only have 1 or 2 year experience but command a salary of 10k++ or near to 10k, and mind you, even oil and gas industry do not pay that much. Some are even worse, diploma level, 2 years experience, but salary is 8k above. Wow, if you guys are really doing that well, well done, you really have outdone average Malaysian by far. If you are just writing a fake number for the sake to impress, well I have nothing to say..guess you really are just keyboard warrior. I hope those who put the number here are sincere as some people use it for reference guide to their own salary.

Yea, I know Jobstreet got salary references but not good enough due to lack of information. At first I thought this thread is good as it contain a lot of good reference which can be shared by LYN member but instead what I got is some fakers who claim they are making 10k to 30k per month before he even reach 25 years old while in real life he is acutally sitting in his small cramped room eating some left over roti and typing this stuff to feel good and proud about himself. No hard feeling, I know some might be able to make it but there are just too many in this thread to be true.

...which is not exactly that accurate since it is based on the salary figures provided by members who choose to include their salary in jobstreet instead of a true consensus

Erm, true.. Wandering what kind of company would pay for 10k for 2~3 years experiences.. Positively think, they must be so expert or gifted, having some set of skill that people are 'begging' from him.. But this situation are very rare..

10k salary in my company usually a staff engineer/manager level with at least 6~8 years exp..

Haha, I would put it as extremely rare. I have a friend who graduated from MIT 3 years ago, indeed a gifted programmer as he graduated as one of the top in his class and his starting pay in a consultant firm in KL is around 4.5k. He is 28 years old now and his earning is around 8k which is still way behind those LYN "gifted" member who just work for 2 years and can command 10 k salary. Some might argue that degree does not means anything but let me tell u this, my friend is one of the most hardworking and smartest guy I have ever seen and he also good in socializing. So I see him as a very successful guy for manage to achieve 8k salary within 3 years but when I checked LYN forum, I got a shock of my life with all those NUMBERS.

Did you ask him how does he bargain such a high salary from his employers? I'm curious to know, and wish to learn from him.... smile.gif

Thanks.

LOL, can. I think I can answer for him without asking him. Check yourself if you have the following first:

Qualification: Degree with first class honor from University like MIT or equivalent
Personality: Hardworking and very good in socializing
Well known within his industry as one of the rising star, he was even interview by magazine for his opinion and insight

If you have these 3 criteria, I believe you should have no problem to bargain with your employee, in fact, I don't think you need to, your employee will make sure you stay. smile.gif

You're not wrong to question the validity of the numbers that are coming up in LYN but I wouldn't go as far as to say they are all liars. Certain industries and jobs pay extremely well ie. strategy consultants where the big 3 (MBB) start fresh grads on five figure salaries. If your friend from MIT stayed in the IT side of consulting, he is doing relatively well. If he moved to management/business consulting, 8k is expected by around the third year for certain firms and within 2 years for others.

What I do notice though is that high pay corresponds to either business or a very good education. You want to achieve what some others have, pick one and go all out. smile.gif good luck

20 years ago, Intel fresh Grad at RM 2.2k. now about RM 3k+? Can it cope up with the inflation rate at M'sia? Perhaps that time Fresh Grad getting around 4-5K for 10 more years coming?

Yea, he is indeed in the consultant firm and he is now based in UK, I am actually not too sure of his latest salary since he is now based in UK as this is a rough figure I heard from his dad a year ago, that is why he can command such a salary. Well, I won't put all as Liars but from what I suspect, majority are. I am not sure what is their motive are? De-motivating people? To feel good about himself? Or just for some simple fun prank to get people amuse.

Well, I believe the salary increment is not enough compare to the inflation rate in Malaysia. 20 years ago, we can still get Chinese tea for free and a super nice economy rice well below RM2. You can get to eat mee at RM0.5. The food price now triple the price from 20 years ago but the starting pay are not..
