I'm simply glad or highly encouraged to know that there're a fair share of Lowyat.net Forum'ers who are earning more than RM3,000 per month which was deemed as a benchmark for high-income by a certain minister previously however personally, I think one should strive to hit a minimum target of RM5,000 per month instead, to afford or live a semi-luxurious lifestyle.

Dependant on how someone's lifestyle is, RM5k is barely enough to enjoy semi-luxurious lifestyle (in Selangor / Penang / KL) with the following assumptions:
a) You have ageing parents
b) You have study loan to pay off
c) You have kid(s)

The RM5k would probably be just enough for you to get by every month with you making lots of sacrifices with regards to necessities vs desires

That's very true indeed...RM5k is nothing nowadays...pay is relative to commitments...commitments will surely increase when your family increase...ya I would think semi-luxurious is a good reference meaning that (necessities + desires) divide by two, at the end only necessities are important...dont know why the stu*** politicians think 3k is a high income

Agree with kelvin_tan and hyzam1212. 5k is definitely not a lot even for a young family....besides the usual car and house loans, you have the additional diapers, milk powders, life insurance for breadwinner, saving education fund for kids etc.....if you're single without gf (or low maintenance gf), then earning 5k will be sufficient and you can have a semi luxury life if you don't save much smile.gif

hyzam1212, these cronies's base pay maybe 3K, but "allowances" and "side income" are 10k? LOL....

The minimum remuneration of RM5,000 per month which I've mentioned is just solely for our ownself inclusive of owning a 2nd-hand BMW 8yo car (costing RM80K), an one room high-end condo (costing RM250K) and miscellaneous expenses such as food, gadgets and entertainment (spend wisely, selectively and look for bargains left, right & center).

Of course, you've got to add further $$$ accordingly in addition to RM5,000 for as follows;-
1. a trophy gf who can cook, give birth the natural way when she became your wife and loves to breastfeed her babies.
2. investment & retirement fund
3. life insurance policy (optional)
4. savings for children educational pursuits, extra-corriculum activities & etc
5. aging parents (maybe)
6. study loans (if applicable)
7. others

What do you do in the Skim coat company? RM2400 is the basis? It sounds a bit too low honestly...
