QUOTE(dezmondlim @ Oct 20 2011, 04:42 PM) Yes. The standard of living in these two areas is so different. I can have a chap fan lunch at Sooka Sentral for nearly RM 9 and go back to my place (PJ) for dinner, it can cost RM 4.00 for chap fan. Seriously if don't get higher salary in this kind of working area, I don't think I can survive. This post has been edited by fruitie: Oct 20 2011, 04:46 PM |

With this kind of standard of living, I can assure most of the fresh grads who are earning below RM 3k barely have much savings... |

QUOTE(fruitie @ Oct 20 2011, 03:01 PM) It depends on your position, job descriptions, company and industry. yeah really underpaid!Though this is not that important but academic qualification as well... So, not necessary by looking at the figure you can judge yourself to be underpaid. degree in engineering technology with 2 years in product design field! really sad.. |

QUOTE(fruitie @ Oct 19 2011, 05:30 PM) Basic, in fact more than 3k actually. Usually ranges around RM 3.2k, if plus everything can be another additional 1k. Yes, it's very common in mnc's, plus they have better benefits too..I'm talking about engineers ya. My junior got both offers from intel and accenture. Intel is giving 3.4k for fresh graduates with 1st class BEng, extra 200-300 for MSc graduates(1st class) Accenture is also giving 3.5k for 1st class fresh graduates in engineering. I heard altera is offerring the same amount as intel, if not higher. Another junior of mine joined O&G vendor in sg, basic + housing allowance + transport allowance = >$3k |

Luckily we don't pay new joiners by looking at their results. |

Job Title : Application engineer Tenure in company : 1 yr (entered as fresh grad) Company : MNC Industry : Heavy machineries Qualification: Mechanical Basic : 2.6k Allowances : RM300 fixed housing allowance, excess of RM2k for misc allowances Take home : RM4500 - RM6000 after subtracting epf, socso and tax Based in Borneo Bonus: 6 months What do u guys think? The basic is quite low by today's standard but the allowances boost up my income. Few years from now though, i'll begin to worry as once i'm getting married, i won't be able to travel as much and therefore will have a much reduced take home pay. |

Yeah, it depends which type of benefits you are looking at. I prefer higher basic, better for next leap. |
