Yes. smile.gif
The standard of living in these two areas is so different.
I can have a chap fan lunch at Sooka Sentral for nearly RM 9 and go back to my place (PJ) for dinner, it can cost RM 4.00 for chap fan. sweat.gif
Seriously if don't get higher salary in this kind of working area, I don't think I can survive. sweat.gif

Actually RM 2.5k also can survive but can't have luxury lifestyle. tongue.gif
With this kind of standard of living, I can assure most of the fresh grads who are earning below RM 3k barely have much savings... smile.gif I know how it felt. biggrin.gif

It depends on your position, job descriptions, company and industry. smile.gif
Though this is not that important but academic qualification as well...
So, not necessary by looking at the figure you can judge yourself to be underpaid. smile.gif

yeah really underpaid!
degree in engineering technology with 2 years in product design field!
really sad.. cry.gif

Of course I know, just ate that today. Already in KL Sentral for the past 2 years.
The problem is my office building is just behind Sooka Sentral, we always have meeting after lunch, so can't walk further.

OK, enough of off topic. laugh.gif

Basic, in fact more than 3k actually. Usually ranges around RM 3.2k, if plus everything can be another additional 1k. smile.gif
I'm talking about engineers ya. smile.gif

Yes, it's very common in mnc's, plus they have better benefits too..

My junior got both offers from intel and accenture. Intel is giving 3.4k for fresh graduates with 1st class BEng, extra 200-300 for MSc graduates(1st class)
Accenture is also giving 3.5k for 1st class fresh graduates in engineering. I heard altera is offerring the same amount as intel, if not higher.

Another junior of mine joined O&G vendor in sg, basic + housing allowance + transport allowance = >$3k

That's why, nothing to be surprised about if working in MNCs. smile.gif
Benefits in MNCs are relatively better, I know that because I'm in a MNC. smile.gif
Luckily we don't pay new joiners by looking at their results. tongue.gif Else, I'll be few hundred poorer. laugh.gif

Age: 25
Job Title : Application engineer
Tenure in company : 1 yr (entered as fresh grad)
Company : MNC
Industry : Heavy machineries
Qualification: Mechanical
Basic : 2.6k
Allowances : RM300 fixed housing allowance, excess of RM2k for misc allowances
Take home : RM4500 - RM6000 after subtracting epf, socso and tax
Based in Borneo
Bonus: 6 months

What do u guys think? The basic is quite low by today's standard but the allowances boost up my income. Few years from now though, i'll begin to worry as once i'm getting married, i won't be able to travel as much and therefore will have a much reduced take home pay.
