QUOTE(samforte @ Mar 15 2011, 03:11 PM) Oopss sorry for the late reply. Here's a summary of my trip.1st day Arrived at Incheon at night. Slept there.Quite cold. 2nd & 3rd day Took the Arex to Gimpo airport. Fly to Jeju for 2 days (not enough!). Stayed at Hiking Inn and rented a van with a driver for the 2 days. The owner, Kevin was very nice, and the van driver, Mr Kim was super nice! He took us to beautiful places around Jeju. 4th day The real adventure begins on this day. Carrying the huge bagpack up and down the subways. Went to Nami island. The scenery was nice but only the Winter Sonata fanatics would love to come here.Took a bus to Sokcho and stayed at The House Hostel. The owner,Mr. Yun was also super nice! Gave us a detailed map of Sokcho and told us about the interesting places even though we arrived at this house at midnight. 5th day Went to Mount Sorak. Sad because the cable car was closed due to string wind. 6th day Went to Namsan Tower,jalan-jalan at Namdaemun,Dongdaemun, Jewel Park(if I'm not mistaken) and bought a lot of accessories. Just sightseeing. Bought souvenirs at Doota. 7th day Went to Hanok village. Also to Itaewon to visit the mosque there. Last minute shopping before going back to KL. All in all,my trip cost me RM2000 including the flights. We saved a lot on food and accomodation. T-money also really cut down our spending. |

QUOTE(rsralf @ Mar 23 2011, 09:35 AM) Laily, Yup,we rent the van from Jeju Hiking Inn, which costs us KRW120,000 per day from 9am to 6pm.The van could accomodate 6-7 people.Could i know how much you pay for the van rental (with driver) in Jeju per day? Do you rent the van via Jeju Hiking Inn? I'm looking at it as one of the option.. off topic.. my mind is still reeling because of SJ's SS3 last Saturday.. haha.. so am really in the mood to finalise things for my korea trip next month ;P |

QUOTE(sfwong1 @ Mar 23 2011, 10:33 PM) laily, wah lucky u i went to mt sorak but the cable car isnt working too due to strong wind, and the strong wind i meant is really strong i had a hard time walking againts the wind blow. Saw the huge buddha statue, then walk inside somemore saw a temple went in took some pic then left, total took me about 30min to cover everything then ran back to bus cos too cold edi due to strong wind and the glove i had isnt doing a good job. Yup lucky I got to ride the cable car. And totally agree with you about the wind.Up there,we had to crouch down. I didn't hike up until the batu-batu parts, but the wind was already strong like crazy we had to hold on to each other, afraid somebody would fall off.And the view was breathtaking....... |

QUOTE(rsralf @ Apr 1 2011, 02:43 PM) Perhaps I can answer on behalf of Laily. Thanks for replying to Listiani, rsralf! Yup,that is the correct website and email address. Details for the accommodation can be found through Jeju Hiking Inn website: http://www.hikinginn.com For van, you will have to contact Mr Kevin Kim via email jeju@hikinginn.com as it is not stated in the website. |

I didn't know Hiking Inn have ondol bed..I got a 3 person bedroom with a single bed and a double decker bed.Inside the tilam got heater...so nice!!! And also at the lantai. I tried the ondol at Namsan when I stayed at Yun Guesthouse. I have to agree with Sophistafunk the room feels stuffy.Plus it was a room for 6 person. But I don't regret the experience.

QUOTE(Listiani @ Apr 5 2011, 03:54 PM) Laila, forgot to ask you. How do u book air tkt from Seoul to Jeju?? From my understanding we must have local code to book the ticket. We took EastarJet flight. You don't have to be a local to buy the ticket online. But have to be quick because it is like AA,the earlier you book the cheaper. |

QUOTE(nasrulbond @ Apr 6 2011, 06:19 AM) wahhh so envious of u people who already sampai korea. i'm planning to go there perhaps next year cause cannot tahan tengok all the drama already. my question is, is it easy to find halal food in korea? and also, does the people can speak english fluently or do i have to learn some basic korean language? thanks. Hahah cannot tahan anymore is it? Go lah it's very worth it! As for halal food, the only place easy to get halal food is at Itaewon, because a lot of foreigner there and got masjid. Other places I'm not sure and I didn't eat anywhere. It's up to you if you don't mind, you can ask for vegetarian food with no meat.We met a friendly Korean couple who helped write in Hangul how to order food without meat.Koreans don't speak English that well, except in Seoul. But you can try communicate with them using pictures or maps or hand gestures.Sometimes they speak Korean,we reply in Malay but both parties can understand each other... it's so funny but we manage to have a great time there.. |

QUOTE(stimix @ Apr 7 2011, 08:46 AM) That's what you get if you go with package. They bring you to shops so that you'll buy stuff and the agency will get commissions.I see what you mean,Stimix. That's why my friends and I chose to jalan2 ourselves. There are pros and cons when going by package. If go with package, you don't have to worry about transport, entrance fees etc. But going by yourselves, you get to choose where you wanna go and how much time to spend there. And also have to worry about how to get there. I guess 1.8k is ok..quite cheap.I thought the cost includes AA ticket. Added on April 7, 2011, 9:42 am QUOTE(tenten.wikuta @ Apr 7 2011, 08:38 AM) Trust me language barrier is not a problem. Just like what one of the forumer said, we can have a very informative and mutual understanding eventhough we talk bahasa to them and they are replying in hangul. Its fun. For me. Eventhough I can speak a little bit of hangul, I seldomly use it. I pretend not to know and then at the end of the conversation I replied back in Korean and see they cheer up and hit me lightly for pretending. Mostly the ahjummas hehe. Its adventurous. Koreans are proud of their mother tongue.I encountered a few Koreans who speak to me in their language, assuming that I can understand them. When I said,"tak paham" then they'll try to speak English. Our van driver in Jeju at first speak English, but then he speak Korean all the way.He even taught us some language like flower = yucet (I don't know whether this is correct or not heheheh).Plus seoul, jeju and most of the place are very tourist oriented. English signboards sre everywhere. For those who don't know Korean words, don't worry! This post has been edited by laily enelya: Apr 7 2011, 09:42 AM |

QUOTE(stimix @ Apr 7 2011, 10:23 AM) He mentioned only Ground arrangement. Almost impossible to get 7D RM1.8K inc of air ticket. Yup very true! When you get on their train, you can see the difference of their transportation system with ours, the scenery of the pedalaman area, and the people.Pretty & yeah there are pros & cons going thru agents. If the simple reason of going thru agent bcos of languarge problem, Well, almost all of us will faced it. but simple communication & etc coupled wth the efficeint transport system, there is no real languarge barrier. The only reason ppl should go for ground arrangement to to get reasonable better hotels, no need to plan & research + foods + tranportation all taking care off. However those going this way will for sure miss the oppotunity to try their efficient metros, trains & having try the authentic real day to day korean food & etc..That is more interesting than having ppl bringing you around to places that we dun even want to go and limiting our time when we really like that place. |

QUOTE(eXTaTine @ Apr 11 2011, 12:17 AM) Is it possible to free and easy without knowing the language? If I need to know the language, what do I need to know? Can...I don't know the language but can still jalan2. You just need to know where you wanna go,and which train line you're suppose to take. There are a lot of train lines,so a lot of transits. Very confusing. |

QUOTE(scy320 @ Apr 19 2011, 09:53 PM) yup.this is the new track which does not show in the subway map.i only discover this route when i reach cheangyangri. I also use this route to go to Nami. It's quite confusing, maybe because my friends and I were tired and hungry,so cannot get the direction correct. But a lot of uncles and aunties there helped us,and they were excited to see us Malaysians! |
