hi guys, since there are so many students here...
wanna ask this multiple choice question ..

you have a dslr that is fast approaching it's expected shutter life
ie. d300 & d700 - 150,000 exposures , d3 - 300,000 exposures.

what do you do ?

a) use until the shutter fails and then get a new shutter
b) send the camera for servicing
c) sell off the dslr at a very cheap price ( informing the buyer/shop of the SC of cos )
d ) don't use the camera anymore
e ) none of the above !

Wow, I will pick (e). I will let it go when it exceeds half life or perhaps 70% of its lifeĀ  biggrin.gif
*
haha ezrasang, let it go and then just buy back the same camera model or wait for the shutter to fail then just fix the shutter ? i think in monetary terms it's cheaper to just fix the shutter right ?

QUOTE(vearn27 @ Mar 4 2011, 05:08 PM)
f) give it to me and thanks wub.gif

OMG... 2 ~ 3 new threads already since I enquired about D7000 and yet to make my move doh.gif
*
vearn..just do it ! D7000 is a great camera ! what are you waiting for ?

why u so worried about shutter life span huh? no nid worry la..and if for me, if the camera still can use, i repair the shutter la..if the newer n better model come out edi, sell the old one, buy new one la..
*
i know we all love to take pictures, so of cos shutter lifespan will shoot up very fast lo ! just curious, anyone here has repaired the shutter before ? how is the performance before and after repair ?

QUOTE(ezrasang @ Mar 4 2011, 05:28 PM)
Well, I depends on situation actually. If there's newer model, then upgrade. If I love it (FX body) so much, then I will just replace the shutter. It will costs RM4xx (depends on camera model though).
*
you are right, if got newer model then upgrade !

QUOTE(celciuz @ Mar 4 2011, 05:36 PM)
FX body -> RM1k+ to replace shutter tongue.gif

RM2.8k for D3 class if not mistaken.
*
RM1k to replace shutter, must be quoted from Nikon right ? im sure they will provide 1 year warranty after service ?RM2.8k for D3 is O.O" tongue.gif

Luckily 24-70 is bought at hometown when she's also back to her hometown hoho...

hehe good strategy...anyway edwardgsk, am thinking of getting either a 24-70mm f2.8 or 28-70 f2.8. which one would you recommend ? is it worth it to spend additional 2k to get the 24-70mm ?

To me worth to spend 2k for that 4mm and N
*
QUOTE(edwardgsk @ Mar 7 2011, 02:59 PM)
Worth it. Besides the 4mm and N coating, I heard 24-70 focus faster than 28-70 also thanks to the new SWM motor inside.
*
like that then i save a few more months first then get the 24-70 instead. thanks for your advices

If it's with kit lens then definitely is worth it. D90 is a great camera. Get the d7000 if u have the budget for it otherwise just get the d90.
