i tried many times to update from 1.0 to 1.2

using Windows 7

i got plenty of free memory in the phone

nope, 32-bit

i tried on laptop with Windows 7 Ultimate and a netbook using Windows 7 Starter

both got same problem

the program gets stuck as soon as you click Start Update, the window where it says Preparing Update Components

wish Samsung had OTA update

thanks for the tips

i have switch off windows firewall and off the antivirus

and have been selecting do not save all the while

still cannot

do i need internet connection for the update, or has Kies already donloaded the necessary?

i removed Kies, downloaded and installed it again (got from Samsung Malaysia website)

downloading firmware upgrade components works

but once i click Start upgrade, the program stops working same as before

i noted that Kies looses connection with the phone at that point, though it recovers in a few seconds - is that normal?

agreed, but sadly i already say bye2 to xp

i have tried with windows firewall off

and tried with it on and Kies added as an allowed program

neither helps

think i'll wait till next update of Kies

i updated to the latest Kies version

but the firmware upgrade still crashes at the first step every time, Preparing Update Components

phone is surviving though

open Messages

drag open the menu at the bottom

click Settings

click Text Messages

and set Save to as Phone instead of SIM

agree with you

i always thought 5in screen is a good compromise between usability and portability

yet only Dell launch 5in device so far (and now discontinued)

good for 1.0 and 1.2

2.0, sorry I dunno

anyway, once your sim memory is full, the sms will be auto-saved in phone memory

oh, that's bad

better not be sentimental and just delete the old sms

check you have the right settings selected

Settings > Connectivity > Network > Connections > then click Yes to view and select one profile

sorry, i sent you the wrong place

go to Settings > Applications > Internet > Internet profiles

and select from there
