On a funnier note, you finally see the light eh? Tu lah, I've been saying that N900 is a piece of crap.

HTC Desire HD/ Desire Z/ Incredible S. They're more than 1.5k, but they sport the later version of Android, DO NOT buy anything with Eclair/2.1 anymore, 2.2 is showing its age right now, and 2.3 is the new hotness.

Google Android OSes are named after confectioneries, 2.0/2.1 is Eclair, 2.2 is Froyo, 2.3 is Gingerbread, 3.0 for Tablet is Honeycomb. The reason why I recommend HTC is that they are manufacturers who supports their devices the most, and the most likely to get OS upgrades compared to other manufacturers such as Samsung, etc. Even if you wanna dabble with custom ROMs for your Android phones, the HTC devices are the most supported as well.

You would want to get a phone with at least Froyo/2.2 in them at this moment. DO NOT get a phone from a manufacturer that promises future upgrade, for example a phone with 2.1 with promised future upgrade to 2.2. Android phone manufacturers are more likely to introduce new models with new OS version in them than upgrading the old models with new OSes. Rules of economics.

That said, you can never go wrong with the HTC Incredible S now, or HTC Sensation later. Question is, $$$$$$?

If you have not tried anything Android before, I suggest a hands-on first before jumping in. GO to any store and try it first. I'd be more than happy to show you around with my Xoom, but apparent, folks are scared to meet me, I eat people for breakfast/lunch/dinner. Burp!
