for me it's stable but you need to sacrifice htc sense and for battery, worse than lee / arhd..

what step..?

try install terminal emulator from market. after install it, go in terminal emulator then type su and press enter. if got # symbol, meaning ur phone rooted already. then can proceed to radio s-off.

done radio s-off, you can proceed to eng s-off.

just now you said you have rom manager already rite.? if got rom manager, open it and install ClockworkMod Recovery (latest version i think 3.0.0.6). but you also can use version 2.x.x.x as some rom can only flash with this version i.e LeeDroid.

radio s-off = something like removing htc security access. meaning you gain fully access to do anything to your phone.
eng s-off = if you want to flash other radio or kernel someday, this is mandatory.

after you open that easy radio tool, choose option 1, then click do-it, got SuperUser request or not..? you need to allow it.

what..? didn't request anything... supposed to have superuser req. either allow or deny. everything must be allow.

try follow aeronchan method below...

use "charge only" if you plugin usb cable.
