i'm not sure where to ask this q, afraid to start a new topic incase being warned by our moderators...so i apologise in advance if my q in any way breaks any rules...just want to know how reliable is the ps3 phat recond 80gb set...2 issues in particular, 1st its a phat so i heard that it is easier to get ylod, 2ndly its a recond, meaning that it is not a new one, in other words a used one. So anyone who owns this machine, would u kindly share ur experience on this machine with me eg any problems encountered, when, how easy to solve, cost etc...many thanx

what to do, budget constraint ma, furthermore i like the looks, it looks more robust and cozy than the slim which looks cheap and plasticky lol but all that is just cosmetic...u r rite its risky but if it works fine its ok...lol

lol i'm just an ordinary human, got temptation and desire..cant wait to play gt5 etc...i believe a lot of people r still buying phat recond sets with the hope everything will be just fine at least for a year or so, reason: dont have enuf money but want to own one and play, thats normal, man...but i agree with u that its risky , u got the points there lol

ok ok bro...in theory it works like that...but in reality it depends how u handle and play the machine too, here we are not comparing btween a genuine product and an imitation one, it is comparing btween a genuine latest version with a genuine previous version... I dont think that the previous version is all that bad although they were more chances to get faulty...so i think we should not exaggerate too much abt the ps3 phat risk of ylod...in terms of recond, that depends on the previous users, we just dont know, so there r risk...but then for me, i would rather fork out money to repair on something that i have enjoyed using rather than paying for road traffic summons lol seems that i'm off topic here, i just give an analogy that some people would like to save money on something but on the other hand, they have to pay on another smile.gif

There is a poll here before comparing the rate of Phat PS3 which has YLOD compared to PS3 slim.U will be surprised to look at the results.

But then some PS3 phat still survived after 3-4 years of using and that's rare.We have seen too much complains and cases of PS3 phat getting YLOD and thus we gave u such advice.

Well,it's ur money so it's ur choice.U got ur own reason and we respect it.We r juz saying that it's not worth but it's ur call anyway  smile.gif

Ok bro, where can i view the polls plse

my brand new 40gb Phat only serve me for 1 1/2 years before YLOD.and now using 120gb Slim for almost 2 years without problem.better get a new one.

Bro, heard that phat 80gb is better than 40gb, dun know how true is that..btw, as for now, ur new slim is only additional half a year without a problem comparing ur old phat..no doubt it is a gud sign, i dun deny the fact that the new slim is more reliable than the old phat since as time passed by sony has been able to improve its console technically while at the same time reducing cost...so in terms slim vs phat, definitely its the slim...maybe i should rephrase my q lol for those who cant afford a new slim, how does a phat reconds fare ? That is actually i want to know, for eg supposed we currently dont have the slim ver now, we have to live with only the phat one..did all the issue of phats technical problem like ylod looks more apparent bcoz we r making comparison with a new technically improved version or were the problems were already being debated at their time (ie when slim ver is still not around)?

Saw on9 seller advertised at around rm700k for 80gb, looks as gud and shiny as new but look is purely cosmetic and doesnt carry much weight lol

rm700 = phat version, 1-3 months warranty, no guarantee, 80gb, old motherboard, old lens

RM1000 = slim version, 1 year local Sony warranty, 120gb, all brand NEW hardware/parts including DS3

sorry to sway away frm current topic lol has anyone played gt5 and fps using just a six axis controller, instead of ds3. Got any fun and excitement without those vibrations on the bumps and when blasting enemies? Afterall, all pc games also dont vibrate on keyboard and mouse lol

Hello, i never have a ps3 b4, so wanna to know abt ds3 mapping settings for fps. Does all ps3 fps games allow full customisation of the ds3 ie buttons, analogue thumsticks, shoulder buttons. In a fps game, is it possible for user to set the d-pad as move front, back, left, right instead of using the left thumbsticks? Tq
