slowpoke sikit, let me share my sad story with u all...
to those who know, i am sorry i slowpoke. To those who dont know, learn from it.

I am using my LCD monitor which dont have a HDMI connection. So i use a HDMI>DVI converter. Since i seldom play my ps3, all is well until the day i shifted my pc to another room.

New room, new pc setup, new this and that. I plug in my ps3 with a big smile. TADAAA!!! No display. rebooted, reseted, changed cable, tested with big TV, no luck.

Bring to sony shop, tested with their 3d tv...same. Only analog connection works. Therefore, its certified i have killed my HDMI port. But how?

I smarta55 plug in the dvi connector (to the monitor) with the ps3 and monitor on. This created a short circuit to the ps3 hdmi port. I dint realize it till i saw sparks after several attempts.

Morale: If u guys planning to use lcd monitor, and dont have a switch or something, and u have to rely to swap cables here and then, PLEASE TURN OFF YOUR PS3 and monitor before doing the swap.

Added on April 26, 2011, 6:42 amDo your house has a lcd/led tv?
Try on that, see if its sharp. Also, in ur ps3, is it set to run at 1080?Becos by default, the ps3 is running on settings lower than 1080.
Have a try, and post back the result...as i was interested in getting that dell monitor too!

are u using the Dell ST2420L?nice perfomance?

Try using the normal cable which came with the ps3. Not sure what it is called, but it has the yellow connector 1...
see if it works. Mine was just repaired back. HDMI port gone.



Overheat?Previously, when i play NFS, my ps3 is in the cabinet. It gave me those problems. Then whenever i play, i pull out the ps3 for better ventilation, and no more such problem.

Btw guys, my ps3 just sent back from sony center for a faulty HDMI port. But, why did they need to format my hdd???all saves are lost.
My main concern is, what happened to purchased pack?I bought 2 packs from NFS:Hot pursuit. Now its gone. PSN is not accesible...Is it redownloadable?Or need to re-purchase??

anyone here using 3 to 1 HDMI switch with their ps3?

How much u all bought? Is it the 3 to 1, squarish 1?
I am using the RM30 3 to 1 switch, but cant get it to work.
So now i am ordering a high end 2 to 1 switch with remote. Sigh....


Mine was played around 30mins only, then i noticed green color thingy before it hanged.
After i pulled out the cabinet, everything is fine, but i notice nearby surrounding is hot yo!

Go to Jalan Pasir putih. "Mei ah", "State", "Wintec" all got sell...
very cheap saja....

ayam is angry.
My ps3 was sent for HDMI port repair.
When back, i ask the shop, "Is my HDD formatted?"
He say no...fine......

Then when opened, i see my user gone, a new user created.
I asked him, he still say no...

i go home open, confirmed it has been formatted!
can i ask for warranty this way? All my save game hilang....
downloaded demo gone...

repair port have to format???

all is ok, just the middle part item is confusing..

malaysian PS3 = R3.
Bluray movies Region A or Region Free = playable.

Did u try the other cable that came with the box?The yellow/red/white that one...dont know whats it called.
Try that. Mine has a faulty HDMI port due to short circuit. But was replaced within 2 weeks.(inclusive of sundays and public holidays)

If u can have display with that cable, most problly your hdmi already gone..

then congrats.

anyone here has the sharpshooter attachment for move?
where you bought? Is it from sony center/style shops?
cos i saw some at other game shop, it looks small to me. And the box is red white color which gives me a fake feel. can some one please clarify?

Also, would be grateful if the sharpshooter gun dimension can be given..
