any diff with the new models rolling out except for the hdd size??
*
The HDD size will remain the same 320gb.

New changes for the updated system:
- Total power consumption 230w -> 200w.
- Total weight of console 3kg -> 2.6kg
- Changes to the LED lights
- Changes to the power and eject buttons.

The new system will be for Japan first.

This is the new complete teardown of the new CECH-3000
http://pocketnews.cocolog-nifty.com/pkns/2...ch-3000b-6.html

Not gonna do a full translation, but points to take note of:

Aesthetic changes

- The once "dark-chrome" trim has now been changed to complete black in color. This will be the same for other PS3 colors as well, so the white models will have a white trim and the silver models will have a silver trim.

- Theres no more backlight on the Power and Eject buttons.

- The wireless indicator LED is no longer present on the new 3000 models.

- Previously the PS Logo on the BD-drive was embossed with an actual piece of element on it. Now, the PS logo is just painted ontop of the BD-drive instead.

- The Sony logo is now molded onto the console itself. Previously, it was painted on the console.

Internal Changes

- First batches of the new PS3s are using Toshiba HDDs. The one in the article is a 320GB model, with 8MB of cache.

- Fan size has been reduced significantly, down from 100mm to 80mm.

- Basically, theres only 1 heatpipe now that connects the new heatsink design for the Cell and RSX (refer to the pics on the article).

- Both the BD drive and the Power supply are also lighter as well.

There are some few more changes, but they're rather minor.
Just take a look at the article and the pictures to find out more.

Well, the changes all leads to one thing: Price-cut.

Though, don't bet on it.
I honestly thing the 2500 models are of better quality.

Small fan, chances of more noise.
I don't like the new heatsink either, the density is lesser.. and considering that both Cell and RSX is still on a 45nm process, this means that they're still consuming as much power and producing as much heat as current 2500 models.

So smaller fan, smaller sink simply means.. the 3000 models will be hotter.
