i do not have any issue with my 20 years old beercan in my fren's A33.

is unfair for you to judge in that way, if you tell me DSLT have problem with SONY Lens, that is fine, but if the market require them to test their new body with all the lens including sigma, tamron, tokina, minolta on every new body sony produce and make it as basic benchmark, you will not seeing any improvement or new idea in DSLR/DSLT, as this will restrict them from moving further.

The 3rd party lens should accommodate to the manufacturer not the manufacturer accommodate their 3rd party provider.

if compare to Nikon entry level, Sony already very kind and think for their user, look at those D40, D40x, D50, D60....those entry body are without screw drive motor inside body, thus they only can buy those build-in motor lens, those Nikon old lens without motor all cannot us.

imagine, ppl who buy entry level are actually those newbie, with limited knowledge of DSLR, and they being "cheated" and later found out they really have limited choice of lens even their own Nikon lens...not 3rd party.

bro, you get the fact wrong, old lens can use.. but without AF  icon_rolleyes.gif

2nd part, i agree with another statement of yours, they have limited choice smile.gif
unlike sony, which inherit from KM using screw-drive motor make our life easier with giving us the AF-ability on non-motorized lens

add on to it:
all 3rd party lens are reversed engineered from older generation chips, because most of the camera producer don't license their technologies for others.. smile.gif

8tvt: cool down, bro, we are big family here, and open to discuss the issue.

btw, do know which lens that having problem with the DSLT? beside the sigma. In theory, most A-mount lens should work. if you know which specific lens that having problem, will be good.

A700 vs A580.

A700 is aging, if u wan physical control, A700. and the quick navi. access to 1/3 stop of iso, commander WL flash with F58 (if u dont know what i just said, then its not meant for u)

otherwise, A580 new tech win in many ways.

i. MP = more
ii. iso = cleaner vs A700
iii. multi iso = even cleaner, a good add on option
iv. more AF point = 11 in ovf (4 become hidden assist for center point), 15 in QLV.
v. ohhh QLV, the best thing of DSLR. A700 doesnt have it
vi. better LCD and u can flip for low/high angel shot.
vii. back to AF, it can do better AF lock at low light (tested with gouki with his A700 vs A580)
viii. 7fps? important?
ix. auto HDR is really good feature for landscape and low light interior shooter!.

u miss out the HD Video as well...seems like my A700 is dinosaur now
