@ieR, i heard SLT won't have back focusing error by their Translution mirror so calibration is not needed?

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « i see....then i will be your first test subject because i thought all along as SLT uses electronic measurement to measure focus lock and calibration is to modify software than hardware alright...thanks for the enlighten, dp.com sucks |

QUOTE(ieR @ Mar 16 2011, 06:00 PM) on special case, the focus check LV, can set to use phase detect or contrast detect AF, contrast detect will use the capturing (main) sensor to focus. so yea, it has that feature to use the electronic measurement thingie u meant. i tot SLT only uses PD(phase detections)? so does it still using conventional main sensor focus? and...the sensor moves This post has been edited by Codyx: Mar 16 2011, 06:12 PM |

QUOTE(ieR @ Mar 16 2011, 06:12 PM) wei, blast 8 times at 1/2000 speed... u know how fast is 1/2000???? lmao! no option to do so..only phase i think as default Added on March 16, 2011, 6:15 pm the sensor wont move la. when sensor in focus(lens focusing), u snap also in focus, because the image memang need to be sharp towards the main sensor~ rite? the backfocus issue because, its sharp to the focus sensor module, but not aligned/sharp to the main sensor, hence u get soft picture. QUOTE the backfocus issue because, its sharp to the focus sensor module, but not aligned/sharp to the main sensor, hence u get soft picture. Therefore what you mean the sensor focus hardware portion or whatever it called will misaligned from time to time or just some factory minor accuracy test?...what causes the camera to out-of-course and end up back focusing? How about lens back-focusing...how does this relate to the camera calibration p/s: sorry for the lengthy questions..as i am interested to know the details, hope you can feedback Added on March 16, 2011, 6:22 pm QUOTE(shootkk @ Mar 16 2011, 06:17 PM) Of course the sensor moves - that's your steady shot mah... so only calibrate one time nice nice then happy forever? Seriously though, the focus sensor does not move. Just that sometimes it is not aligned correctly. So when we calibrate it means we move the focus sensor so that it becomes more aligned lor.. After calibrating, it just stays in its new position lor. This post has been edited by Codyx: Mar 16 2011, 06:22 PM |

QUOTE(shootkk @ Mar 16 2011, 06:28 PM) Codyx: Yes. Most of the time it is. Calibrate one time only. But sometimes some lenses have defects in the lens itself that causes the back focus or front focus. Then calibrating the camera will only make the camera focus sharp with that particular lens. All other lenses will be OOF. i see then body calibration can save money to calibrate lenses...great response guys,....appreciated alot That only happens rarely. So after calibration, your camera should be able to give you sharp pictures with any good lenses. |

QUOTE(ieR @ Mar 16 2011, 06:36 PM) actually, codyx, the first calibration is NOT wrong. its what they say 'best suited for all general photography uses' and, no, not all are wayy off calibration, during the convention, most A550/A700/A55/A580 were in very good calibration, it seem only the older A300 batch most unit has the calibration issue. try to drop your body to the floor see if it will mis-place anot..haha...as for how long the calibration will last, need reservicing or not, i do not have long enough experience to give statement. so i do not know. Added on March 16, 2011, 6:41 pmaisks, correction... A55 do not have focus check LV. paiseh, i was wrong, thanks to codyx correcting me (please do not try this at home) |
