Hi guys,
my phone currentlt is

PDA : I9000DXJPE
PHONE : I9000DXJPB
CSC : I9000OLBJPA
Build Info : 2010,12

So do i need to update? Is it still latest?
*
It is the latest for Malaysia (Asian region). The latest production version is 2.2.1 which is XWJS5 from Europe.

It is certainly faster than DXJPE.

First, make sure u are using the latest voltage control 3.0.1. Can get it trough market. Old version not too stable. Sometimes the value changes on its own. Second is to follow the recommended uv setting on SO first page. When testing, never save it as boot setting first! Test it first, run few quadrant test, play video, run some games. If its stable enough only u set it as boot setting. If the current uv is stable enough, u can lower them one step at a time. Try to get the best combination without freezing the phone. Other forumers might want to add up more.. tongue.gif

Thanks for the guide smile.gif

I have these values as good UV values:
Good UV Values :
1600000 -150
1500000 -150
1400000 -175
1300000 -175
1200000 -25
1120000 -25
1000000 -50
900000 -50
800000 -50
600000 -50
400000 -75
200000 -75
100000 -75

If I step down the voltage, it should be this?
Good UV Values :
1600000 -175
1500000 -175
1400000 -200
1300000 -200
1200000 -50
1120000 -50
1000000 -75
900000 -75
800000 -75
600000 -75
400000 -100
200000 -100
100000 -100

I'm currently experimenting in the most optimal values. Can you post your values as a comparison? Thanks!

It hasn't even started flashing the bootloader. Heimdall just stuck there before there was a status bar.

Used Heimdall, installed the replaced drivers. Heimdall just froze there without any progress for 20secs. Start button is unpressed, I clicked Start again and it says device unrecognized.

No progress bar on the Download mode, hence no flashing is done, the negotiation part is stuck I think.

Here's the full steps that I did in bricking my phone.

Here's what I did:
Preparation:
1. Put phone into debugging mode.
2. Plugged in phone into the USB.

Procedure:

1. Used ADB to reboot into download mode
2. Replaced the Kies drivers with Heimdall drivers.
3. Unplugged the USB and replugged the USB for safety reasons.
4. Opened Heimdall.
5. Put in boot.bin and SBL.bin as primary and secondary bootloader.
6. Pressed start.
7. Noticed that progress bar in Heimdall is not moving after 10secs.
8. Noticed that progress bar is non-existent in phone.
9. Minimized Heimdall.
10. Maximized Heimdall and saw Start button unpressed.
11. Pressed Start Button again and got the error message: failed to retrieve config descriptor
12. Bricked my phone sad.gif

It doesn't. I was going to flash with Heimdall to fix the 3-button combo.

Added on March 7, 2011, 11:13 amummm... on the other thought, since we are in this community, why not we tong2 together and help pikachu1 sort his problem out. i found at ebay and found that the lowest price is about RM27 + free shipping (check the item here. shipping would be about 2-4 weeks duration  blush.gif

or does any shop at lowyat sell this? i don't mind donating few RM to help. maybe someday i also need to jig...

sekadar cadangan.

Thanks uan smile.gif Appreciate the good gesture. I'll try to PM the guy who made the jig. I'm stuck at my current place now with limited time, as I'm going outstation in a few days, hence the urgent need.

HKC Maxis, topped my limit again.

Is the 3G watchdog buggy? As it shows only 200+MB data usage so far, so it's quite impossible that I've made that much calls. So I believe it's the data usage.

Any other recommendations on 3G monitoring apps? Gonna put a few in and see how Maxis gonna lie about their billing.

And to the question of turning off data a few pages back:

Turning off Data Network Mode will also disable MMS sending/receiving. Best is to nuke the Digi Internet APN and leave the Digi MMS APN on.

Update: I went into Samsung Malaysia Electronics and got my phone fixed within the hour. It was Heimdall not communicating properly with my phone, thus soft-bricking my phone.

Oh i see! Thanks.
BTW, i need to ask gmhafiz or anyone who knows.
which modem is good for which carrier? Or are they the same?
just sharing:-
#1) I tested my gps in my journey to kl from tanjung malim. can't lock at all! First zsjpe, then xxjve, then back to zsjpe, then zsjpg. All gives crappy performance!
on my way back home, i flashed xxjpx. And magically, my gps is working! Very fast lock, and 5m accuracy (in tanjung malim) what the shell, man!
#2) i am getting very poor reception, using celcom uox. No signal and "emergency call only" all the time. I flashed different modems to try to investigate. Actually, the problem is that celcom doesn't provide good 3g service in tanjung malim and I exclusively set my phone to use only 3g. Changed to Auto 2g-3g and voila! Problem solved!

Did you try fasterfix before trying out the GPS?

Force close market and clear the market cache, then try again.

If not, use Market Enabler to spoof a T-mobile, then Force close, clear cache and rerun market. The apps should be there.

Or you could leave it for a few days and let the market reassociate itself (weird, but that's how it does, I guess there's a background process which checks with Google and Market and your phone's apps periodically and updates it back to google's servers though it is a slow process and the only way to force refresh is by doing the above process)

"Do I need to root first before flash the firmware?
No need to root before flashing stock or custom ROM."

Hi sifus, need some guidance on this. It says here I don't need to root to flash a custom rom? my guess is i can just straight away download odin and get a rom in. anything i should look out for?

correct me if i'm wrong laugh.gif
*
You don't need to root before flashing, as long as you can access Download mode (by using ADB or by the 3-button routine). Just that rooting (and installing CWM) gives you more options of flashing/installing apps.
